Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.

Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!

Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

"You look about eight feet tall with antlers," she warned, thinking he was going to look like an idiot all night. "But sure, consider this a perk to having me as your date."

Jake gently pushed her to her feet so they could make way for the next in line. "I thought the perk was having the hottest girl in school dancing with me."

"No, that's a given," she replied with a smirk before she turned and snorted at the full image of Jake with antlers. Yeah, she was so not looking at him anymore.

Jake rolled his eyes, having a feeling she'd be doing that for the whole of the evening if he kept the antlers on.

"You can just steal these after and give them to me as a gift," he suggested, taking them off and putting them back to the side.

"That's my boy, always thinking of me," she said, hand patting his chest before she grabbed his tie to pull him away from the backgrounds. "Where to now?"

"I don't know," he looked mostly amused as she tugged him along. "I get the feeling you're driving right now so you tell me."

"Um..." Caroline looked around and it was difficult to decide what needed her attention first. She gave Jake's tie a tug to pull him in close so she could press a quick kiss to his lips again.

Maybe it would help ease that she was going to send him off on his own for a bit.

Yeah, he could guess what that meant and he moved his hands to her hips. "Dance with me?" he asked quickly, hoping to distract her from whatever she was going to say.

"Yes, of course," she enthused with a little bounce, really not having expected that at the moment. "Give me like, five or ten minutes to freshen up?" And verify that no one had done anything horrific to the beaver or any of the weird moose and that the caterer was replenishing the food appropriately...okay maybe fifteen minutes.

He smiled at the bounce and he rubbed his hands over her hips. "You already look amazing," he assured her, trying to draw her with him.

"There are other reasons to freshen up," she told him, not that she was intending on going near the ladies room. "Just a few minutes and then you get me for as much dancing as you can stand."

Jake sighed and he quickly leaned in to steal a kiss from her. "Fine, but that might be a lot," he warned.

"I'll consider myself warned then," she answered, giving his cheek a little pat. "Go test the syrup fountain for me." It was her idea so she'd feel poorly if it stank.

"I might get hooked on the thing," he warned as he let go of her so she could go do whatever it was she needed to do. She looked just fine to him.

"There are worse things to be addicted to," she reminded him with a smirk before she turned and hurried away.
