Homecoming Dance | Town Hall | Saturday Evening | Post I
Glitter encrusted moosen stood guard in the entry to the transformed Town Hall, reminding all those in attendance that the night was about all things Canadian. Or things the Student Council had deemed Canadian - plus a whole lot of glitter.
Sparkly red maple leaves and paper geese hung from irridescent streamers, setting off the food tables as very much separate from the raised dance floor in case the terrifying papier-mâché beaver didn't make it obvious that the timbits were for eating. Or for dunking in the maple syrup fountain. Beyond pure sugar, there were plenty of bite-size portioned food and nonalcoholic beverages to push the theme into the bellies of all, no matter how tight the dresses!
Beyond the dance floor, the shadowy corners glowed with the twinkle of glittery maple leaf garland and a Joni Mitchell inspired moose that had been strategically positioned to look rather tragic in its lyric-covered glory. Yes, glory. For the evening was to be glorious. Or at the very least entertaining.

The intern was annoying enough that Isabel would have happily roasted marshmallows over said lava.
She glanced around the room, still amused at the decorations. "I wonder how many familiar faces we'll see? I know Ronan's supposed to be around here somewhere."

He followed Isabel's gaze around the room. "Is he? Haven't seen him in awhile." Somewhere in whatever pocket dimension Excalibur hung out in when he wasn't holding her, the sword thrummed happily.

"Well that's what happens when someone decides to spend a year and a half wandering about the universe." Which did kind of sound like fun, maybe for a little while. But Isabel did like having her roots planted. "He looks good. I had free afternoon a week or so ago and popped over to visit. He's back working in the clinic. It was almost like old times."
At some point Isabel would probably need to tell Wyatt about the conversation they'd had, but the dance probably wasn't the best place for it.

"He told me we could crash at his place when we're in town. But I'm glad we passed this weekend. One, because I like the idea of snuggling in front of the fire in the cabin later and two, I didn't want us to put a crimp in his plans for the evening." Although she was fairly certain Ronan would have been more then willing to accommodate them. In multiple ways.

Isabel remembered an honest night in Caritas (http://fandomtownies.livejournal.com/3605008.html?thread=149669648#t149669648). She was not imagining things. No, not at all. The only time her imagination kicked in was when she was bored during lectures. And she had a very vivid imagination.
