Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

Aeryn had never been a dance person, and part of her just hoped she wasn't going to be given any kind of princess award again because people thought they were funny. It was nice to see people she hadn't seen in a while, at least.

Was there any way to shoot glitter, though?

Buffy would be deeply upset by the idea of shooting glitter. She might also be going for a hug. "Aeryn! Fellow Meerkat!"

"Oh, there's hugging," Aeryn said, patting her a little awkwardly. There were some things she hadn't gotten used to. "Hello to you too, Buffy."

Buffy appreciated the awkward patting and let her escape the hug fairly quickly. "How have you been?"

"Good. Married. With a son," Aeryn said. "What about you?"

"Making terrible dating choices -" yes, she could own those terrible choices. "--and stopping apocalypses. It's been busy!" Buffy blinked. "You have a son?" Somehow that was a weird thought.

"A seven-year-old." At least she didn't say "cycles" anymore.

And she was just going to let that hang there to weird Buffy out more.

Buffy stared. There might also have been some blinking. And then some more staring.

"As John would say, we're all old."

Not Aeryn, technically, as Sebacean life spans meant that she was realistically younger than them all, in context.

Sam waved at Aeryn from over by the door.

"Sam," Aeryn smiled, coming over. "It's been a long time."

"It has," Sam agreed. "Glad to be back?"

"I am. Especially since I recognize people now." It was harder when she came back to teach and it was just her and Anakin. "I haven't seen you in cycles."

"It's a really long story, best told with alcohol," Sam told her. "Are you on Earth full-time now?"

"For a long time, actually," Aeryn nodded. "I couldn't go back to the Peacekeepers, so I stayed. We sometimes make trips, though. Is this a good long story with alcohol, at least?"

"It has its moments," she shrugged. "The SGC has changed a lot and there's a new command structure, so I'm not completely sure where I fit anymore. I may go private sector, but I'm not sure. How's your son? And John? I haven't run into him yet."

"We'll have to talk more, with alcohol," Aeryn decided. "John's good. He's around somewhere. And Talyn's fine. In second grade, making us feel old."

"That is not a happy expression," Dean observed. "Let me guess, you're wanting to shoot things."

"That's just how my face looks," Aeryn said. "I am wondering if all the glitter is really necessary."

She wore way too much black for this.

"It's Fandom. If it wasn't glitter, it would be attack squirrels or gemlins in tutus or something equally guaranteed to make you wonder what was in that last beer you drank." Dean grinned wryly. "Have to admit I kinda missed it."

"It's definitely one of the least terrible places I've been," Aeryn admitted, which was high marks from her. "How have you been?"

"Still breathing and have all my original parts so I guess I can't complain," Dean said. "Save people, hunt things, it keeps a guy busy. You? What have you been up to when you're not glaring at glitter?"

"Working. My son's seven now," she said. "It keeps me busier than I would have thought."

"But that's good right? Kids are supposed to keep you busy."

"Yes. And luckily in the good way. Or I probably would look a lot unhappier," she deadpanned.
