Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

"I am all the better for finally getting here and seeing that I have you, even if I recognise no one else," Angela answered with a grin.

"I only just moved back to DC. It sort of feels like I'm coming right back where I started."

"There are a ton of people here," Peyton said. "Even if you know people here you might not find them in this crowd."

She smiled at her friend. "So, you didn't have to travel very far to get here, huh? I had to get a portal from LA."

"I'm pretty sure I took the route via Australia to get here anyway." Because Portalocity. "What's in LA to take you out there?"

"Still trying to break into the music business. I've done a couple of internships out there. Grunt work mostly as I try to work my way up," she admitted. "Please tell me you've been more successful in doing what you wanted."

"I draw faces for dead people." A cheery line of work. Angela shrugged.

"It... sure isn't what I wrote on the career guidance questionnaire."

"I guess it's... art?" Peyton said trying to sound hopeful. "Do you like it?"

"It is art," Angela agreed with a little huff of laughter. "I think like might be a little strong. I mean, I only just started, and I'm not even sure I'm going to stick it out."

"It's a bit... dark." For her, at least. Her colleagues had no such issues. "But worthwhile. There's something nice about giving people that."

"Dark, yeah, even for me, I'd say that's dark," Peyton said with a chuckle. "But I can see that helping people like that would be great."

"I always thought I'd be doing my art for... you know, the living." As you would, really. "And definitely not in a lab."

"It does also mean I get to decorate my own lab coat." And she did wear it well.

"Yeah..." Peyton gave her friend another hug. "You must still be doing some art, though, right? Or have an amazing boyfriend? Something like that?"
