Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

"Anytime," Zack replied, flashing a brief grin that was almost, almost like his old ones. "And maybe he's fine. Maybe he's not much different from he one who was here. I don't really know either of them all that well. I really just sort of know him as one of the Turks."

And he had nothing against any of them as individuals. Really. Except maybe Tseng, who he still couldn't quite shake that sense of betrayal from. But The Turks, as an entity...

"I kind of like that," he added, going back to what she'd said before. "That they're still there. They're not really gone."

Momoko stepped to his side and leaned into him. "In Japan, where I'm from in my world, the dead go to another world. But they can still visit us and watch over us, hear us when we talk to them. We tend to their graves and leave them food and gifts for thanks for their help and devotion and hard work."

Zack gave a tiny little smile, at that.

"I... wouldn't mind having somewhere I can go, to tend to," he admitted. "I've been doing a lot of laying low lately. But I have something to remember my friend by. Maybe that's almost the same?"

"It is," Momoko assured him. "I can't make it back to Triela's grave more than once a year, and even then it's risky since it's a world where I'm not known. So I keep an ihai for her in my apartment. Her and some others. I talk to them sometimes; it makes me feel like they're right there."

"I... I have his sword," Zack murmured, hand reaching back to rest on the hilt of the buster sword he carried at all times. "He gave it to me. Back when I was a student here, still. I slept in the garden for weeks, because I didn't want to leave it in the weapons locker."

And... it was not exactly the sort of sword you could just sneak inside.

"Is that how you got it?" Momoko leaned back to look where he was reaching. "Did you have his name put on it?"

Ah.

"Or does it have a name itself?" Some swords did, she knew.

"It's called the buster sword," Zack shared, smiling just faintly, turning so that she could have a better look. "It... came with the name, I think."

He certainly hadn't named it that.

"Buster is a terrible name for a sword!" Momoko exclaimed, even as she was making big eyes and totally trying to not make grabby hands at the sword.

The sword that was as big as she was.

"Not if Angeal named it," Zack decided. "If Angeal named it, Buster is perfect. Totally perfect."

... He was kind of protective of anything Angeal. At all. Period.

"... Do you want to hold it?"

Please don't let it squish you, Momoko. There were probably small cars out there that weighed less than this thing.

"Maybe Buster is only part of it's name? Like 'Buster of Dishonour and Cleanser of Injustice'?" Look, she was Japanese; a sword needed to have a cool name.

But her face lit up all the same when he offered. "CAN I?! I mean, it's important to you so if you don't want me to try, I'll understand!" And won't cry. Promise.

"... Well, I only ever heard Angeal say buster, but..."

Sure, it could mean all of those things, too. Dishonour was especially bad really.

"And... here." He pulled his sword from his back with very little effort, and offered it to her.

... He wasn't going to let go until he knew if she could handle it, though. This thing seriously meant business, after all.

"Careful, okay?"

"Well, if it was his sword, he totally had a personal relationship with it so he probably just called it that for short. You should ask it what its full name is." Momoko bounced on her toes as Zack pulled the sword and eagerly accepted it. She didn't even mind that Zack kept hold of it, since he'd just finished saying how important it was!

Of course as soon as she had her hands wrapped around the grip - both hands, because duh, this sword was LITERALLY as big as she was - she had to struggle to even keep standing. "Wow! How do you even hold this? The balance is so weird!! Whooop." The end was barely inches above the ground, and that was due to her enhanced strength!

"The hilt is totally too long for the blade." Or she had ~~anime physics not square enix physics~~ small hands, whatever. "How do you fight with it?"

"The handle is just the right size for the blade," Zack protested, maybe a little defensively, as he held out one hand in an offer to take it back so she wouldn't just fall over or something. "And it takes practice. I mean, I wasn't perfect with this sword the first time I held it, either."

"I'm not trying to be rude! I just had to study swords a little for Kendo. Maybe it's because I'm shorter than you?" Momoko gave his offered hand a sad look. Did she have to give it back?

Not that brandishing a 5 foot sword in the Community Center was a good idea, but... but...

"Or maybe it's because you're not SOLDIER," Zack suggested. "The sword was made specially for Angeal, after all. There's probably something about the balance that works better for us."

Zack... doubted that. But it seemed kinder than pointing out that the Buster Sword was pretty much nothing like any weapon they'd offer to a kendo student. It was kind of more like a giant metal cricket bat of death.

"AH! If it was made for him, that totally makes more sense," Momoko nodded, shifting her feet so she could maybe not fall over? Then gave in and indicated that he could take the sword back. "And if you can use it, too, then you've got to have a special connection. That's very awesome, Zack. You should be proud."
