The Park, Saturday Night (Prom Part 2)

The music is playing, the glitter is everywhere and outside the tent, the gondoliers are occasionally bursting into song.

Prom 2007 continues!

He laughed and said, "Yes, and I'm sure he'll never take the crown off. Ever. It'll be attached to his head. I might be exaggerating."

"No, you're not," Isabel laughed. "I doubt he'll take it off before he gets back to his room tonight and even then, it might take some convincing. I'm glad for him though. I don't think he'll ever forget it."

"It'll be a nice souvenir," Cedric agreed. "For when he...graduates."

That thought made her frown for a minute but, determined to keep the evening happy, she tried for a joke. "He could always try to incorporate into whatever uniform he needs to wear as a time agent. It could be the new 51st century fashion."

That got him to laugh and he started shaking his head. "Knowing him, he'd find some practical use for it."

"Yes, crowning himself King Jack of Fandom Island," Isabel laughed. "He'd use the title to get into all the best parties."

He laughed again and said, "Yes, I think you're right. And I shall just be a Thingie of a King."

"And there's not a thing wrong with being a thingie," she said. "As long as you're happy."

"I am," he said, moving to spin her.

Isabel laughed as she spun. "Good. So am I. So I think tonight counts as a success."

"You did a wonderful job," he said, bringing her back to a stop. "Truly. And now you can relax and let me buy you breakfast and a movie sometime next week."

She frowned for a moment. "Let me think about that."

Deep thought lasted 3.4 seconds, then Isabel smiled. "I'd love to."

"Good," he said, attempting to look stern. "Because I'd have made you if you'd said no."

"Like I'd ever say no to you?" she teased. "Or I should say breakfast which means my true love, caffiene."

"True love?" He raised an eyebrow. "And what if I just bring you juice?"

"Two words," Isabel said seriously. "Puppy eyes."

"Two words," he said back. "Working wand."

"You wouldn't dare!" Isabel said, suddenly picturing herself as a small puppy.

"Oh, but I would," he said, trying to look sly.

Isabel looked sad and woeful.

"You do that so well," he said and spun her again.

Isabel quickly found out that it was not possible to look sad and woeful when you were spinning. Laughing, she hugged him when the spin ended.

"That's better," he said, hugging her back. "No more looking sad."

"Not tonight," she promised. "And not at breakfast. Even if there isn't any coffee."

"Good," he said and lightly kissed her cheek. In a very gallant manner.
