The Park, Saturday Night (Prom Part 2)

The music is playing, the glitter is everywhere and outside the tent, the gondoliers are occasionally bursting into song.

"Then get on, your feet, Master Jedi." Rose replied, she looked at the direction of his nod, "In the scale of the humiliating meter, 10 being the highest and 1 being the lamest, how'd you rate that weekend?"

"Nine, easy," Anakin said. "I thought I was a greaser named Kentucky or something, greased my hair, lost a rickshaw race and got beat up." He made a face. "And made out with Maureen Parker."

Rose laughed, "That's something you don't see every day," then tugged at him again, "Is this what you call dancing?"

"No," Anakin said, spinning her out and then pulling her close and moving in time to the music, "this is." He smiled. "Though I'm dancing to this particular song under duress."

Rose let out a surprised laugh, "Noted, you do have moves after all."

"I'm full of surprises," Anakin said, spinning her.

Rose laughed and did a move she'd seen in the movie and said, "That's how you do it, daddy-o!"

"Before you ask, I don't handjive," Anakin warned.

Rose snapped her fingers and bopped her head, "Oh, c'mon, I bet you do! Slick your hair back a bit if you like."

Anakin totally glared at her. "I should never have told you that."

She smirked, "I'm fantastic this way, don't ya think?"

"Not so much, no," Anakin grumbled.

He was still dancing with her, though, so he was just being a pain.

"Liar," she said and twirled around him.

Anakin was pretty good at dancing--years of dueling and a wife who'd been trained from birth to attend to the niceties had worn off--so he pulled Rose through a series of complicated dance moves, then gave her a cheeky smile.

Rose almost stumbled at some of the moves Anakin executed but she'd been clubbing for years before she joined up with the Doctor and her lifestyle wasn't what you called sedentary.

She returned the cheeky smile, hoping to God he doesn't do anything that'd end with her flat on her face.

"Think you can handle something more complicated?" he said, challenge in his eyes.

The man liked to win.

"Of course!" She said, trying to look confident, "Give me your best shot."

Famous last words.

Anakin grinned and twirled Rose through a modified version of a Nubian formal dance.

Lots of fancy footwork. It had been one of Padmé's favorites.

He tried not to think about that part.

All right, she can do this. Just follow Anakin's lead, turn when he does. It's all about the footwork, Tyler, you can do this. Step left and left and right. Just don't trip.

"Good," Anakin praised, smiling. "You should've seen the dresses that are traditional for this. It added another fifty pounds for me to lift."

"Glad to have your approval," Rose smiled then shook her head, "Now, that's one way to lose weight."

"The dresses were ridiculous," Anakin said. "Padmé needed multiple people to help her get into them."

Slightly less to help get her back out, but he wasn't going to mention that.

Ever.

"Must take a hell of a time to get her out of those things," Rose observed, frowning slightly at one part of the dance.

"It depended if she was planning on wearing it ever again," Anakin said, a far away smile on his face.

That got her attention. "I bet you help a lot when that happens."
