Charlie was still on the dance floor after Thriller, but he went to retrieve Alanna before returning for the song, placing one hand on her hip and the other holding her hand close to his chest. They were more swaying than dancing, but that seemed to be their comfort zone, so it worked for them.

Alanna leaned against Charlie, and tried to sway in time to the music and not step on his feet. She managed not to step on feet.

His hand moved to the small of Alanna's back as he pressed a soft kiss against her hair. "You look great tonight. Beautiful."

"Thanks. It's been a good night, your royal highness." He pulled back a little to see her reaction and grinned.

Alanna blushed and shook her head. "None of my friends back home are ever finding out about this. Ever." She put a lot of emphasis on the word. "I'll never hear the end of it."

He moved back to being closer, his cheek against hers. "Your secret's safe with me."

He smiled at that. "I love you too." They rarely said that. When they did, it meant something.
