Caritas, Wednesday evening

Jaina still wasn't exactly sure why she had this job, except it got the owner to shut up. And upon finding out there was going to be a wedding reception here (and hey, didn't she meet Deadpool? she had no idea he was married), she really wasn't happy. Regardless, she set up the best she could, considering she'd never seen what a party here was supposed to look like.

She was trying to think of it in terms like "If this doesn't turn me to the dark side, I'm doing pretty good."

Rikku laughed. "Yeah, you know, the more they go on about how it isn't true ... it's kinda weird, the way they say it? It makes me think there's something up." Her eyes danced mischeviously. "And, uh, either way, I wasn't gonna miss it. This should be good."

"Aly's your sensei? Whoa, that's cool."

"Well, of course; sensei is just Japanese for teacher, and I had a class with her one semester, but I still feel that I'm under her instruction despite not formally being in a class with her..." Setsuna's eyes drifted over toward the gifts table. "I'd almost suspect it was a way to gain some free swag...although Yondaime-sensei barely seems the type to do that. Which pegs it right on Deadpool. He is denying things a lot; to throw everyone off the track that it was totally his idea...."

"Oooh, really? I thought it was, like, some kind of a formal thing, like someone who teaches you fighting or whatever." She shook her head. "Sorry, I don't really know any Japanese. That's your first language, right?"

Rikku considered their professors. "Maybe ... Deadpool's embarrassed, but waiting it out for the swag? Which means it wasn't his idea. Maybe it was Aly's idea, for the embarrassment, and the swag just kinda happened. I don't really know Yondaime at all, though. Except I think he had one of those future kids with Deadpool."

Setsuna gave a nod. "Teaches you fighting or teaches you mathematic, they're all sensei. As far as these sensei go, though, I don't think the future kids thing is proof of anything. I mean, I had a future kid with Teddy."

"Oh, no, I mean, lots of people were talking about how they had them all over the place, like, tons of kids from different people, and they couldn't all happen, kind of a thing? I just meant, that's the only time I met him." She shrugged. "Are they, like a thing?"

And giggled. "... Teddy? No way."

"Yeah, I know, Teddy. So the kid thing is definitely no proof. There is, however, the fact that I did bear witness to some rather couple-like kissing at last week's Movie in the Park between the two of them..."

"I don't know how some people did it, with twenty kids floating around. I couldn't get any sleep with one." She made a face, and then laughed more. "No way! Wait, I thought he was ... with the last Sheriff? Oooooh, but she left, didn't she!?? So this is legit, then!?"

Setsuna had slept completely fine during that weekend. Because she'd promptly dumpted the kid on Teddy and Chad. Mwa ha ha.

She shrugged. "I'd say so, yeah. There's even pictures. I think Deadpool's just having trouble with being open about it. Because he was nothing like this," she nodded toward Queen-of-Denial-sensei over there... "last Wednesday."

Rikku looked over at him, chewing lightly on her lip. "I don't know. Maybe it's hard for him, when lots of people are around, just ... being open about ... I don't know." She shrugged. "I think he doesn't like to admit he cares about people, so he shows it when he thinks you're not looking."

After a moment with her own eyes cast in Deadpool's direction, Setsuna nodded. "...Yeah. Bet it's hard for someone like him to have to let his guard down for another person like that..."

She knew that to be particularly true because she was a lot like Deadpool in that regard...

Rikku stole a glance at Setsuna, and chewed her lip a bit more. Then nodded. "Yeah, I bet it is. I mean, that's why, when people get in, you've gotta hang on to them, yeah?"

...Rikku said, to the girl with a habit of breaking things off just as they got comfortable... Setsuna shifted a little. "Y..yeah...Ex..exactly."

Rikku folded her arms. "Yeah. Uh. So. Hey." This wasn't awkward, really! She fussed with her hair.

"Jude was ... saying that, uh ... you guys don't ... hang out much any more?" Rikku's toes were very, very interesting. "Is that ... that's not, uh, 'cause of me, is it?"

Awkward? Setsuna? Surely, you jest...

"Hm? What? Oh!" Setsuna's eyes were wide and her arms felt like flailing a little. "N..no, that's...that's not it at all! It's just we're on such different schedules now and I'm so busy and I guess...I mean, indirectly, he spends more time with you and everything, but that doesn't necissarily mean...because....I mean....you two should spend a lot of time together, and...uh...um...."

And after that nice piece of embarrassment, Setsuna only blinked a little and finished with a slightly astonished, "He mentioned that to you? Really?"

Rikku shrugged, smiling a little at the other girl. "He misses you, you know?"

"And I think he, uh, wanted to make sure it was okay with me or whatever, which is ... I mean, it's not like that, you know? So I started thinking, oh, man, is that why he hasn't? 'Cause that would suck." She fussed with her hair again, blushing a little. "Yeah, and I kinda, uh. With the time-thing, sorry. I really didn't mean to - you know. Mess up you guys or whatever."

Ack, why was she blushing? But at least she'd managed to stop flailing. In a fashion, anyway, because Setsuna was still waving her hands in front of herself a little. "No, no, you're not messing us up at all! Promise! It's definitely just that I've been way too busy lately. Definitely."

Taking in a deep breath, she nodded firmly to confirm her point.

Rikku nodded back. "Okay! Yeah, I was just ... uh. Okay." Apparently, she had felt the need to make things awkward, that was what.

New topic! "Did, uh, oh! Hey! Did I tell you that me and Tidus took Deadpool's feet off?"

It occurred to her a moment later that Setsuna might have no idea who Tidus was. But really, the foot thing was cool either way.

"You....what?" Setsuna blinked. "And who's Tidus?"

"It's okay! He stuck them back on ... or maybe he regrew them? I missed it, we were kinda flailing a bit. It's, uh, Tidus and I had our weapons and I was all, you know, I think we could totally take you, to Deadpool I mean, and he was oh, hey, school's out, let's go to the preserve and bring it. And we were totally winning, too, but he wasn't really fighting back as hard as he could, I think. But we were actually all really sparring with weapons and it was so great and ..."

Rikku stared for a moment. "Tidus was ... wait. You know about how I broke reality and all that, right? Uh, 'cause if not, I, uh." She looked away for a long moment, not sure how to phrase it. "... Brought back a friend of mine from the not-really-but-sorta-dead?"

Setsuna blinked. "I...heard a little about that, yes..."

Rikku nodded. "I know, messing with stuff I shouldn't, learned my lesson. Just ... he wasn't dead, he was kind of not-existing, and it wasn't fair, and I thought I could fix it. And I screwed it up pretty badly anyway. But ... it's okay now, and he's back. And I just thought ... the two of us could take Deadpool, I bet, and we totally did, and ..."

She laughed. "Maybe I just wanted to fight with him again. You know?"

Setsuna grinned a little. "Well, next time you go wanting to do something like fighting Deadpool in the preserve with weapons....you are so coming to get me and letting me to it, too, got it?"

Rikku grinned. "You bet. And hey, we could always crash in on him again. A little pop quiz in reverse? 'Here, please rate our performance as compared to last time.'"

"Oh, I do like that idea, too," Setsuna chuckled a little. "Although his office is so small. I feel so limited."

Rikku considered. "You think we could lure him out somewhere else? Runs the risk of him suspecting, depending on how we do it, but open air's a plus."
