Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

He was totally getting kind of tackle-hugged. Without proper warning.

That was to say, any warning.

"Oh my God, babe, Abigail actually managed to push you out of New York!"

"Holy shit," Hannibal said, managing to catch Kate against him by only stumbling backwards a few steps. "I think you might have broken my ribs."

But, he was hugging her back tightly too. Safe to say he didn't mind the greeting.

"Bullshit," Kate told him happily, giving him a tight squeeze. "Your ribs are fine. Even if I am totally strong."

Sometimes she lifted Seamus. That counted as weight-lifting, right?

"You're strong but I'm stronger," he said, snickering. "So, you seem pretty happy to see me. I'm glad someone is because I recognize like no one."

"I know, right?" she said. "Did we, like, get old or something? Who are all these people?"

"You got old," Hannibal corrected slyly. "I just became distinguished."

And old.

"You're older than I am!" Kate objected, thwapping him in the shoulder. "And you are not distinguished. You have a Minnie Mouse tattoo."

Even if it was a classy 1930s Minnie Mouse, it meant he couldn't be distinguished. Somehow.

"I got that because of you!" Hannibal argued, pointing at her. "That's your fault. You tricked me!"

No, she hadn't.

"I did not trick you." Egged him on, maybe, but she hadn't tricked him! "You made your choice! Don't pin it on me, babe."

"I've been pinning it on you for years," Hannibal told her, shaking his head. "It's all that gets me through my lonely days of...construction."

He didn't do that anymore.

Kate snorted. "When were you actually in construction last?"

"Recently!" Vague, Hannibal, very vague. "I'm very good at it, Kate. They just keep offering me jobs."

"... I don't know if I'm buying that."

And now he had her tilting her head at him.

Hannibal mimicked her tilt and smirked.

"What?"

Now she was squinting on top of the head-tilting.

"Are you hiding something?"

Hannibal pretended to think about it before shaking his head. "Can't think of a thing!"

"Liar."

She poked him in the chest.

"I know you are but what am I?" Hannibal retorted maturely.

"Wow," Kate snorted. "I think I've heard cleverer retorts from Seamus And he's a puppy, babe."

Well he was a grown dog but come on, he'd always be a puppy to her.

"Did you just compare me to your dog?" he asked, frowning dramatically. "Wow, Kate. Now I'm never gonna tell you anything."

"I am absolutely sure I've compared you to worse things before."

100% sure, even.

"Not lately," he argued, shaking his head. "So, no more inside info for you, young lady."

"Fine," she replied, mock haughtily, lifting up her chin. "Then you don't get me trying to talk you into another set of tattoos."

"I consider that a reward," he teased, nodding. "Because you'd make me get like Betty Boop or something."

Kate made a mock shocked face at him.

"Are you disrespecting Miss Betty Boop at me right now? Is that what this has come to?"
