Come As You Were Dance, Community Center, Saturday Evening

Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

"I'm Buffy," said Buffy, who didn't judge people on their names. Strange that. "Back to Fandom, actually. What about you? Are you attending school here? How old are you? Have you heard anything about glitter's magical properties?"

Okay, for a guy named Sparkle, meeting a girl named Buffy was pretty much the best thing. The. Best. Thing.

"I graduated this spring," he shared. "So, nineteen, though they think I'm younger back home because of course they do, and glitter is a magical and wonderful creation unto itself. Is there more to it than that?"

He'd heard rumours. Hell, he'd partaken in some glitter-fueled boykissy in the past, though he was just as inclined to think it was more about the boys involved than the glitter. But it didn't hurt to make sure they were both on the same page, here.

This all sounded pretty much ideal to Buffy.

She nodded. "Glitter," she said seriously. "Causes boykissy." Which was too a word! "It's a very important, even essential, part of the Fandom experience, and I feel it might be up to us to make sure this very important, uh, legend lives on." She looked very sincere. "For the new generation. Obviously."

Yes, they did just meet five seconds ago.

Hey, her priorities seemed sound enough to Sparkle, anyway.

"... As former student council president, I feel like it's actually my solemn duty to make certain this tradition continues," Sparkle mused, giving Buffy a shameless grin. "I mean, naturally. What kind of Fandom alumni would we be if we let the next generation go unprepared into their future?"

This from the kid who burned a house down the other day. Yeah, Sparkle was the best role model.

"Exactly!" That was the kind of student council president talk Buffy could get behind.

Though she would never burn down a house unless she had a really good reason. Like rats. Very large rats.

"Is there anybody you'd, ah, think would understand about the seriousness of this tradition?" She tried to scope out the cute boys (who looked of age! not being creepy!) in a subtle way.

In fairness, the guy who had owned the house was a bit of a person-shaped rat, if you asked Sparks.

He gave a good, thoughtful look around the room.

"... There are a lot of faces I don't know," he noted, with a slight frown. "I mean, I guess we could just run around doing the glitter-test and see what happens."

For science. For the children.

"That would be very scientific, wouldn't it?" Buffy said thoughtfully.

For the future! And tradition!

Truly, their cause was a noble one.

"We could see if it works on just guys, or if girlkissy is also a thing," Sparkle offered. "Equal opportunity science, you know?"

The most noble of causes, indeed!

Buffy considered it. "That seems fair," she decided finally. Jaye -- her tutor in the ways of boykissy -- hadn't said that that would work. But then she'd never said it wouldn't either.

See? Science!

"Well, then I guess we've got some pretty important glitter-gathering to do, huh?"

This could either end in tears or glory. Sparkle was so hoping for glory.
