Impromptu Labor Day Beach Cookout, The Beach, Monday afternoon

It was the last day of the reunion and Jessica figured she needed to take a moment alone. Get some solitude, a place to be with her thoughts for a little bit, in a quiet place. The beach would work. Have some white noise from the water, what could possibly be more relaxing.

When she got there, food was already on the grill, the volleyball net was set up, and a pig was sitting next to a spit, eating from a trough. There had to be a story there. And wait, who started grilling food on a beach only to leave it, and a pig? If this was Fandom magic, it was really weird Fandom magic.

Anyway, alone-time apparently wasn't happening. She could settle for some BBQ as long as she avoided anything that might have come from that pig's family.

"Maric still lives? How young you are," she mused. "I suppose he said something about scary swooping swamp witches and how I eat young men?"

"As for Orlais, I am raising my son there. They are far more tolerant of mysterious apostates there than elsewhere, and I do not wish to raise my son in the Wilds in a shack. I want him to have a real education, and people about him."

"No, just that you wore purple and sneered at everything," Anders said. "He must have forgotten to bring up the swooping bit. And now I think I'll head for Orlais if I end up back home after this."

"And here I thought Alistair utterly unobservant. He has discovered I like purple. Fascinating," Morrigan drawled. "As to Orlais, its Circles actually allow their members off-grounds residences and such, if you follow the rules and play The Game and play it well."

"Myself, I have managed to find a place in the court of the Empress as her 'arcane adviser,' much to the chagrin of the 'civilized' mages," Morrigan said. "My status as a rumored Witch of the Wilds makes me a pretty distraction from the dogma of the Circle, with knowledge long lost to mages by Chantry decree."

"Ah, that's the tricky bit, then. I'm not sure I could manage any kind of Game," Anders drawled. "It's not like I plan to provoke authority figures, but somehow it seems to happen to me a lot. And I always thought the Witches of the Wilds were a myth."
