Impromptu Labor Day Beach Cookout, The Beach, Monday afternoon

It was the last day of the reunion and Jessica figured she needed to take a moment alone. Get some solitude, a place to be with her thoughts for a little bit, in a quiet place. The beach would work. Have some white noise from the water, what could possibly be more relaxing.

When she got there, food was already on the grill, the volleyball net was set up, and a pig was sitting next to a spit, eating from a trough. There had to be a story there. And wait, who started grilling food on a beach only to leave it, and a pig? If this was Fandom magic, it was really weird Fandom magic.

Anyway, alone-time apparently wasn't happening. She could settle for some BBQ as long as she avoided anything that might have come from that pig's family.

"Kennedy, come help me mock some of the poor unfortunates who look dazed and confused," Emma called out. "We can start bets on how long before some student tries to adopt the pig to save it."

"Assuming any of them haven't already tried," Kennedy replied, abandoning the food table in favor of going over to greet Emma. "You know, I can't decide what's funnier: the newbies getting their minds blown by the extra-concentrated Fandom-ness, or the people who've been gone so long their Fandom-sense is rusty?"

"The alumni, as they ought to know better by now," Emma decided. "If you're so old and slow your sense of self-preservation is rusted, you deserve to be laughed at."

They were terrible people.

"Good point. The newbies are -- wow, they really haven't had a lot of time to ease into this stuff yet, huh?" Kennedy looked around and shook her head. "You know, I'm not so cool with the part where we're the adults now."

That should probably worry people.

"I am not an adult, I am an, and I quote, 'an unholy terror in heels and a bespoke suit,'" Emma said gleefully. "I'm rather sure that's different from 'adult.'"
