Caritas- NYE party!

Hello to New Year's at Caritas! The bar was open and ready for everyone to say goodbye to 2021 in a totally classy way, for real. The place was decorated in lights and garland, there was an actual DJ this year, there were fancy drinks including a coffee thing to get you to midnight, and if you weren't here for classy... well, there were mini liquor bottle ornaments hanging from the Christmas tree in the back room for people to take. This party was for you too. This is still a bar with zombies under a Febreze sprayer, let's not kid ourselves too much.

Also feel free to grab a hat or a completely impractical set of 2022 glasses at the door!

If you needed Kitty, she was mostly working, sometimes mingling. She was dressed up and comfortable, but she was buzzing from person to person in case anyone needed anything.

Like a rickshaw, depending on how many of the tiny liquor bottles anyone got into.

Rey was in a sparkly dress that actually showed some midriff, by choice, in tall boots, with her hair down and makeup done. This was like a once a year thing when you had awesome friends, apparently.

She was also doing her damnedest to successfully stand in heels. If she moved, she was pretty sure she would fall over and her feet were starting to hurt, so she'd just sort of lean at a table with the one drink she'd probably be nursing all night and tugging down at both her top and skirt.

There had been a brief moment in Summer's head that realized that she actually could go out and drink for New Year's outside of Caritas this year, but honestly? A much bigger part of her wouldn't want to ring in 2022 anywhere else. And so of course she was there, feeling very cute in the dress that had oh-so-handwavily managed to defy so many other options that presented themselves yesterday (and, really, it would have been silly, anyway, considering she'd definitely made sure Barry matched), did up her hair and was so ready to get her party on for the last time this year!

It had struck Lucille this evening that perhaps it was time to get a new dress, more as a symbol of how her life had changed than anything else. She still wore her usual red dress tonight though, and ignoring the hats and glasses she picked up a New Year's Sparkler and found herself a seat.

What did it say about Gladio that it actually felt a little bit weird now to be in a bar with a shirt on? He did sort of wonder if it was going to just be a temporary thing, but he was wearing a shirt, thank you, and even nice one with a tie at Ignis' insistence, who had also made the suggestion that perhaps Gladio consider making a resolution to actually wear them for a change in this coming year.

That Ignis, man. Really missing his calling as a comedian.

Was this Dwight, actually showing up to a New Year's Eve party? Yes, yes it was. Partly because he didn't want to spend the ending of yet another year hiding in his apartment, partly because mun's work schedule today is all to hell, and partly because he did need to get some use out of the suite he had bought for that one party a while back.

So, there he was, with his Three-Piece-Suit trying his best not to look as awkward and out of place as he felt.

As if Ignis Scientia could ever turn down an occasion to dress up...

...although, really, most days Ignis considered an occasion to dress up, really, but far be it from him to get into the spirit of a holiday, either, and it certainly was a nice way to come back to the island after a good bit of time taking care of things back home.

As tempting as it was to say that she cleaned up extra good after a hard day of really! working at the forge was good enough for a party, the invite had encouraged fancy dress, and, so, maybe a little reluctantly but in the spirit of the occasion, Amaya brushed off her one fancy dress that made its appearances for the events that called for it, ready to socialize, hopefully do some business (the real reason for going to half of these parties, honestly!), and then pay an undue amount of attention to the time so that she could best be good and avoidy when a certain hour started to come inching around.

You know, the hour that was kind of the point of the whole party, so it's not like it should be that hard to keep track of it.

If anyone was surprised to see Billy show up, they were not the only ones. He was a bit surprised himself.... But he figured if there was a party going on he might as well stop by. It wouldn't be anything like any of the parties he had been to back in Cancun but, really, nothing in like the last few months had been anything like it had been back then.

So, there he was, in a probably too-casual simple jacket and slacks. But hey, when you had spent the majority of the last few years running around in t-shirts, tank tops, or no shirt at all, even a casual dressy was still dressy.

Switching out his usual pink haori with a more thematic one was Shunsui's second biggest consession to the event, the largest actually being making sure that he'd brought along plenty of some of his best sake for his usual o-toso toasts....but if he did it right, he would certainly be glad that he was already at the bar so that more could easily be had. He could only bring along so much, after all!

Forget the fact that it was always an odd choice brining your own alcohol to a bar, anyway, but at this point, it really was just tradition.

It had turned out that Doc had managed to find out about the New Years party and had sent over a suit for Goose to wear for the evening telling him to wear something different for a change, Goose didn’t know how Doc managed to find out the things he did but he was at the party, wearing a grey suit and black turtleneck because even Doc knew that getting Goose into a tie would be impossible.

To the surprise of no one Goose was also still wearing his hat and galaxy rangers badge along with the suit, because some things just never changed.

Well, look at that. Not only was Rosa's dress not even black this year, but it wasn't a dress that she'd worn before to other events, too!

Someone was feeling a little fancy this year, apparently. It happened sometimes!

Although the second someone tried to put a hat on her, she was ditching this place for Shaw's. Yes. Even in this dress.

It would never cease to be extremely charming to Sidon how much stock those with shorter lifespans put into marking the passage of the years, and he absolutely loved a party, besides! So, naturally, he was there, in some of his finest jewels and sashes and his nicest of cravats, looking over the crowd (rather by default, really!) with an incredibly pleased expression, eager for a spectacular and memorable event to say goodbye to one more year and welcome in another.

"Fantastic!" he said, about everything and nothing in particular, at various points during the night, maybe mixed in with the occasional "Magnificent!" and "Spectacular!"

He just wanted everyone to know that they were doing a great job!

Annie, unsurprisingly, had fully embraced the sparkliness of New Year's Eve. She was in complementary tall, silver shoes, and unlike last year, she was able to move in them with a grace that suggested she was very, very used to tall shoes now.

Because she was. These were kind of short compared to the 2.0 boots.

She'd even done her hair, teasing it up a little at the crown and letting it spill over her shoulders in curls, and you know what, everyone? This shit looked way better than her wig. Like, she was definitely going to end up taking a drunk selfie at some point to try to argue with Ashley in favor of maybe burning all the wigs, it looked so good.

Irene was newly-returned from a little self-care trip to Martha's Vineyard between Christmas and New Years -- just because she couldn't travel places in her own universe didn't mean she didn't know where all the best spas and resorts in the States were -- and as a result, felt like she was practically glowing with relaxation and refreshed skin, hair and nails. The dress probably didn't hurt, nor the way Irene had styled her hair in old Hollywood-style waves over one shoulder. And, feeling playful, she'd traced electric blue eyeliner along her top lids to bring out the brightness of her eyes (and to contrast with the ever-present red lipstick.)

Once arrived, she found herself a drink and a stool to lean on, since Irene knew the trick to maintaining one's posture all night in one's Louboutins was leaning discreetly on things. You learned it here, ladies.

Party- Midnight

A couple minutes before midnight, champagne glasses were handed out to anyone who wanted one, and the countdown began...

...yes it was going to rain glitter at midnight but you know what, it was gonna look awesome.
