Parents Weekend Meet & Greet, Friday Afternoon

It was one of those insufferably nice seasonal afternoons, the type Fandom only broke out for major events: the temperature was charmingly brisk, the trees an autumnal red-and-yellow, and birds sang their merry fall songs in the trees - when they weren't tussling with the squirrels.

A glittery banner hung over the entrance to the park, drawing in all newcomers:

Zo felt-- uneasy. It was as if they had all been called here at once, Erend and Kotallo and Alva, pulled by some impossible force across the great distances between them. She didn't know what to make of the ruin that stood so tall and intact on this island.

Nor of the scrap of paper that, as she scanned it with her Focus, seemed to hold her name.

She picked up the name tag with care, and studied it.

What? He'd seen Zo put hers on. He hadn't really thought about it twice beyond that.

One good thing about being one of the X-Men was you were used to unconventional travel modes- such as portals. So that wasn't anything Logan had to adjust to too much.

The island WAS a lot smaller than he had expected. But that hopefully meant finding one blue student among the crowd would be that much easier.

So, with his name tag on, Logan started looking around.

After hearing sooooo much about this place from Libby, Zo was so ready to finally witness it for herself! Sure, there was a little bit of a damper on the whole thing from Justice deciding to come along under the pretense of looking after his mother when she was pretty sure he was just here to be a damn dirty spy, but...she wasn't going to let that spoil her excitement, as she signed in, got her nametag, made it a little more interesting by adding some stars and lightning bolts before slapping it proudly on her chest, and went to look around in awe and take note that, already, it was meeting her expectations. Libby had told her to expect a lot of glitter, and she was not disappointed so far!

Oh, look. A trio of improbably good-looking and tall men. Wonder who they were here for?

As Alastair clipped his name tag to the lapel of his jacket, he said aloud, "Raiden says he's still busy with some minor crisis at the restaurant and he'll be here soon. Does anyone see Gray?"

"Look, Tadakichi-san!" Chiyo beamed happily once she found her nametag, attached it to the front of her shirt, and then held up another one proudly toward the large, shaggy dog almost as big as she was, that sat placidly next to her as she registered herself, her father, and the dog in for the event. "They have a nametag for you, as well!"

And, carefully, she plastered it on the dog's chest, while he just sat there looking at her with his big brown eyes and she nodded proudly.

"Perfect! And now we just have to find Sakaki-san!"

MM was actually surprisingly game for putting on a nametag. It reminded him of being back in schools again, which probably made sense given that Annie had said the big castle was a school.

He neatly printed MARVIN in all-caps on a nametag before slapping it on the left side of his Wu-Tang Clan shirt.

Kimiko had actually never used a nametag before! She'd had to ask MM how it worked (via gesturing curiously and receiving an immediate explanation, because this was often how things went when traveling with Kimiko.)

Once prompted, though, she took a moment to very neatly write her name on the sticker, considering her handiwork for a moment before dotting the I with a little heart.

Perfect.

Nanao sighed a little bit as she went to go take care of registration and collect hers and Ukitake-san's nametags. She shouldn't be surprised that she didn't see Shunsui there at the gathering yet--she hadn't really expected him to meet them there, honestly--but that didn't mean she couldn't still be disappointed about it.

And, obviously, it wasn't just the crowd; he wasn't exactly difficult to pick out of a crowd.

Knowing full well that he wouldn't be seeing Laszlo here at the Meet & Greet, Colin Robinson still couldn't pass up a perfect opportunity to feed that something like this was bound to have.

Starting, of course, with whatever poor sod was stuck handling the registration and nametag distribution; it seemed an excellent time for Colin Robinson to inform them all about the various studies done on the harmful effects of sticker adhesive, as well as offer a very exhaustive breakdown of various different kinds of sticker adhesive, and how to spot a good one over a bad one, using the nametags available to them as a prime example of how you can tell, based on the viscosity and color and....

Silvia was looking a little out of her comfort zone as she picked up her name tag and looked around for her son, she was not really used to these types of social gatherings at all.

It hadn't taken long for his son to take off, not that it would have been hard to keep track of him but Professor Bruttenholm took care of the registration for both him and Hellboy, picking up their name tags even though he wasn't even going to try to make Hellboy wear his.

This whole thing had Just feeling terribly awkward and uncomfortable, but, under the circumstances, he was the man of the situation, so it was on his shoulders to be responsible and make sure his sister was alright and that his mother and the baby weren't too overwhelmed by all of this and to....probably just generally ignore Zo. So he stepped up to the registration to handle all of that and get his and his mother's nametags, and then, once he knew they were settled, he'd set about looking for Libby, because the sooner he found her, the better.

Chiana had done this last time she'd visited so she was very carefully writing her name so it was legible and in English and then sticking the tag on her chest.

She hadn't told Stark she was coming but that was his own fault for not calling Moya since his return.

Don't mind the pretty grey girl prowling around the park, Fandom. Actually, please do. She likes attention.

"We are not putting on name tags," a girl with curly hair and enormous hoop earrings said to the tall, awkward teenager next to her. "We are not enormous fecking dorks."

She gave him an appraising look. "Well, you are, but they can tell that by without the name tag."

She cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled, "OY! CLARE! SHIFT YERSELF! WE'RE HERE, MOTHERFUCKA!!!!!!!!!"

James--the boy--looked like he very much would like the Earth to swallow him whole now, please and thank you.

Miss Grayling told Deirdre to go and find Jo so she could handle the registration, Deidre had been all to happy to leave and head off to the picnic since she was still rather intimidated by her Head Mistress and still couldn't believe that she was travelling with her to visit Jo at her new school.

Arallt had been given the rundown by Lana, so he knew what was expected. Honestly, he was a bit thrilled to be somewhere they didn't know him on sight, so the name tag was going proudly on his synthleather.

A grey-skinned, hairless alien with tattoos, scars, and head jewelry wasn't likely to stay anonymous for long, but leave him his delusions.

Ashara thought the whole thing was kind of fun, and at least the lack of tech here was due to the culture and not having been bombed back to this level.

There still had to be a better way than sticky backings, surely? She sighed and tried to find a place on her robes she'd be unlikely to knock it off with a head-tail.

The detective (well, the detectives? Both of them, really?) had warned him that this was The Future and all, but so far there was nothing exciting about finding a nametag.

That accomplished, he started to wander about, looking for the detective. The one that lived here.

Yeah, Gabriel had done this before. He'd decided he could improve it with a nametag that wasn't going to immediately fall off or bleed marker all over. So this was him, setting his tiny holographic nametag on his chest where it belonged.

With a deep, thoughtful hum, Father Cat was absolutely making sure to spend some time perusing the food table, making sure that there was a good selection of healthy options available for his daughter to enjoy while she was visiting her friend. Overall, though, he felt satisfied with the offerings, although leaning so heavily on the treats left something to be desired..

The trip had made the baby a little fussy, so Just offered to handle all of the registration stuff for them so that Becky could go and find a nice spot to sit and settle Hope a little, once they made it to the picnic after settling things at the hotel. And now they just had to wait for Libby, really, and she was honestly feeling grateful that the baby would demand so much of her attention. It helped to keep her from staring a bit too much. She knew that this place got all sorts of people, from what Libby had told her, but it was something else to actually be seeing it all.
