Anything But White Party - Stark Industries, Friday Night

The ballroom was once again set up for guests at Stark Industries, this time with a decidedly colorful theme for it. Where the color white could reasonably be avoided it was avoided: from the decorations to the lighting, to the food and drinks provided for the guests.

Because no one enjoyed a nice theme more than Tony Stark.

Steve strode across the ballroom and stared up at the new Chihuly chandelier installed over the dance floor. "When I suggested we switch out the art, I meant the kids' paintings," he said, pointing to the new, very colorful, pictures that had been blown up from construction paper size to 5 foot tall show-stoppers. "I still think the pictures of Princess Thor riding on the unicorn wins, though."

"I must seem thimble-sized," she teased. "Next to you, I'm awfully tiny."

Her eyes traveled over him again and she couldn't help but reach out and smooth an imaginary wrinkle from his shirt, just to have the excuse to touch him. "DId I mention how even extra handsome you look tonight?"

Like she needed the excuse.

"Only about as many times as I've mentioned how extra beautiful you look tonight," Gladio countered, "because you do. I'd probably say something about how it's a really good color for you or something, but I don't know anything about that kind of thing. Pretty sure you just look that good."

But they were in public, Gladio!

"I'm glad you like it," Nell said. "It's kind of fancy, but it's very comfortable. And I think it will be good for dancing." She was absolutely looking forward to that - being in public or not!

"Comfortable's good," Gladio said with an approving nod. "And it's going to be great for dancing."

Which they could probably get into now, if they really wanted to, but Gladio sort of wanted to build up to it a little, so he gave Nell another grin and cocked his head toward the bar.

"Want me to go see what they might have to drink? Or you just want to sort of feel it out, get comfortable a little with it first?"

"Sure," Nell said. "I'm okay. Just taking everything in. It's an amazing place. Anything non alcoholic would be fine, though I might indulge in a glass of wine later."

"Wine, huh?" Gladio asked, looking impressed. "You really are going all out tonight, huh? Well, don't worry. If it hits a little too hard, at least you know there's someone who can carry you home if you need it."

He might try to make a bid for carrying her home even if she didn't, and he grinned at Nell for a moment that stretched into a sort of hesitation. Like trying to decide something, and, whatever it was, the end result seemed to be leaning in to just give her a nice, quick, hopefully not too embarrassing because of all the people, peck on her forehead.

"Let me see what they got."

Which meant, shortly afterwards, perhaps not a bit as short as he'd have liked because, well, Summer was the bartender, and Summer was...Summer, but he returned with two tall glasses of a very colorful drink in his hands, one of which was being offered out to her.

"It's a lemonade," he told her. "It changes colors when you mix it."

He had to admit, it was actually kind of neat.

Nell laughed. "I don't plan to drink that much!" But she had to admit, the thought of him carrying her home was an awfully nice one. Hmmm...

She was looking at him curiously as he hesitated, then smiled when he kissed her. If he'd waited another second she'd have pulled him down for a real kiss - if only a quick one because of all the people. Well, there was time still.

Her eyes widened at the lemonade. "Oh, that looks very cool. Thank you!" She swirled it a little and grinned as the colors changed. "Beautiful!"
