Anything But White Party - Stark Industries, Friday Night

The ballroom was once again set up for guests at Stark Industries, this time with a decidedly colorful theme for it. Where the color white could reasonably be avoided it was avoided: from the decorations to the lighting, to the food and drinks provided for the guests.

Because no one enjoyed a nice theme more than Tony Stark.

Steve strode across the ballroom and stared up at the new Chihuly chandelier installed over the dance floor. "When I suggested we switch out the art, I meant the kids' paintings," he said, pointing to the new, very colorful, pictures that had been blown up from construction paper size to 5 foot tall show-stoppers. "I still think the pictures of Princess Thor riding on the unicorn wins, though."

"I like gifts that come from us both," Steven admitted. "Another way of you and me doing things as a team."

"Agreed," Watts said, reaching out to fiddle with Steven's pocket square. Did it need straightening? Not really. Was that going to stop him? ... Not really.

Was Steven complaining? Also no.

"It's nice doing things together," Steven said. "As a family. It's not just us, it's our family doing things."

"Our family," Watts echoed, and then leaned in to press a kiss to Steven's lips. A quick, blink-and-you'll-miss-it one, but a kiss nonetheless.

Don't mind if he looked a little surprised by his own daring as he pulled away again, Steven.

Steven gave Llewellyn a private smile. Softly, just for Llewellyn to hear, he said, "Love you."

Watts shook his head slightly, not in dissent, just to clear away the deer-in-the-headlights expression he’d been wearing.

“And I you,” he replied, equally soft.

"Do you think you might feel up for a dance later?" Steven asked, just as soft. "I'll understand if you don't care to."

“I was actually considering,” Watts said, “what song I might request of Steph so that we could do just that.”

"A slow one, perhaps?" Steven asked. Since there was his own comfort level with dancing to consider. Not that he hadn't enjoyed salsa with Llewellyn, but it was different doing it in front of people they knew.

“That’s what I was thinking,” Watts said. “Narrowing it down slightly.” But there were still many other factors to consider!

"Anything in particular you would like?" Steven asked.

“I am uncertain,” Watts admitted. “I am, of course, far more familiar with music that would be deemed ‘classical’ by most here. But perhaps a modern slow song might be more… enjoyable by the room in general?”

"I see," Steven said. "Something that feels like a waltz but modern. I bet Steph would know something."

“I heard a song on the Spotify the other day that I quite liked,” Watts said. “Though it’s- not a proper slow song. Not terribly fast, mind, I think you’d manage it just fine, but there are probably slower songs that, you’re right, Steph could suggest.”

"If you feel confident with it I don't mind giving it a go," Steven said. "We can always improvise, yeah?"

“All right,” Watts said. “And if you feel it’s too fast, we can try a different song.”
