Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]
Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.
The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.
Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Re: Food and Drink | PW1
Which, if anyone asked Daxter, was professionally executed in the sort of way that only a guy of his particular skill and grace could manage. It might have involved a leap in the air and a bit of spinning.
"Yeaaah!"
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
... hold the pose...
Rock.
There were traditions that had to be upheld, man.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
And, happy sigh.
"Jak, old buddy, it has been entirely too long."
A beat.
And then he was eating again. The food was clearly sub-par and terrible, which was why he had to eat as much of it as possible. For the good of everyone here. He was a hero. Clearly.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
... Take note of Jak narratively wheedling around the whole pretty girls thing. It was Dax. If Dinah showed up, he might... have to hide the Ottsel, or something.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
Daxter would not be pleased if he found himself unceremoniously stashed under a table because of a girl. A girl! The only one allowed to do something like that was Daxter, thank you very much.
"So classes aren't terrible, huh? What are they teaching you here, Jak? Reckless Endangerment 101?" Had Dax known that such a course could possibly exist, he might have taken it himself. Because Jak definitely would, and someone had to keep him out of too much trouble, right?
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
Just look at their track record.
Really! Just look at it! ... Okay, let's not look too closely to Lurker Rat hunting in the Boggy Swamp. Yich.
Jak shrugged, and mimed a punch. Punching people, mostly! And running. There had been treadmills, and if Jak had been slightly more sensitive to the issues of the modern tiny mammal he might have been a little more careful about implicating that with a hand motion and a raise of his eyebrow.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
It was their calling in life, really.
"I'll have you know," he said, enunciating every last syllable with the slow, deliberate clarity that one might use while speaking to a small child, "that I take exceptional care of myself, Jak."
He did. Also, he had to finish his apple now. Preferably from a perch on Jak's shoulder, so that he could make loud, obnoxious crunching noises into his ear.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
He made a questioning gesture.
...About the fuzzy.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
Or something.
"Nothing. Squat. Nix, nada, nil, zilch, zip, zippo, zot, diddly, absolutely jack, Jak."
Were he any other Ottsel, he might have even made en effort to make that sound less accusing. Ish.
"And then some!"
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
He began to turn. Away from the food.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
Well, he might share. If a pretty girl asked him nicely or something. He'd let them have the little juicy red things that he'd almost choked on. And then warn them about the pits, and then they'd inevitably swoon and thank him for the brave and timely warning, and...
Dare to dream, Dax. Dare to dream.
"Soooo. Where're we goin'?"
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
... Beach. He was going to drag Dax down to the beach that didn't have waters full of Lurker sharks. Or alternatively he was going to move vaguely in the direction of the beach, which was the direction that had no food in it, but plenty of trees, and a pond.
Maybe he was just getting used to the weight of Dax on his shoulder again. It was possible. He was definitely making up for lost time, holding up his hand for a quick fist-bump.
Re: Food and Drink | PW1
... There was something familiar about that scenario that wasn't sitting well with Daxter, though he couldn't quite put a finger on what.
Ah well. He'd just settle in for the ride and continue making loud, slobbery, crunching sounds as he worked on his lunch. As you do.
