Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.
Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2009!

Ellie was so caught off guard that she was, indeed, getting hugged by Morgan. "Morgan. You're here?"

She might have forgotten that particular detail.

"I am. I am here, and I am feeling good, and Ellie, wow, you look amazing, did I say that already?" He grinned at her, utterly lovestruck. "How are you?"

"That was the first time," Ellie said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. She was going to try to be nice. "I'm doing well. Chuck will be glad to see you."

"Well, then I just need to say it again," Morgan said smooth as a thing that wasn't smooth at all. "You look amazing. And I can't wait to see him, either. Is he doing okay?"

"Thanks, Morgan," Ellie said, wondering if this was going to be a theme all weekend. "Chuck is good. You'll have to go see for yourself."

It would be a theme for the next 15 years.

"I should, but I don't see him," Morgan said, as if mystified.

He might have been intentionally ignoring a tall, dark-haired boy who was scarfing down food like he was being paid to do it.

"It's really big and confusing here. You could help me find him."

This time Ellie did roll her eyes. "Seriously, Morgan?"

She glanced over to where Chuck was standing. "Fine. I guess it is pretty easy for you to be lost. Just...follow me."

She really could not hide the exasperation in her voice.

... yeah, Morgan knew he'd pushed Ellie past the point he was allowed to push her to, which was why he backed down. "Y'know, never mind, I think I see him. Tall fellow, snazzy shirt?"

He was already headed in Chuck's direction.

Ellie sighed. Now she kinda felt bad. She really was going to make an effort to be nicer. For Chuck's sake, at least.
