fandomtownies | Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Hayley showed up, just to try and meet people. The more people she was around, the less she had to think. Thinking hurt a lot, lately.

Poor silly emo Hayley.

"Hayley?" Roy said, amazingly having spotted her in the crowd. "I didn't think I'd be able to find you, here."

"Roy?" Hayley said, utterly surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, I came to see you," Roy said. That was true, it was why he was here. Looking at her again, he could see everything he was trying to impress when he'd rode up outside of St. Agnes'.

"And you're looking divine."

"Awww, shucks," Hayley said, looking down and blushing. "I haven't seen you since that night."

"Can we talk about that later?" Roy said. "I don't think either of us want to talk about that yet."

"Oh, okay," Hayley said, stopping for a second. "So, you gonna come to school here?"

"Oh, no," Roy said. "I'm actually... I didn't want to just jump into this, Hayley."

"Jump into what?" Hayley said. "I don't follow you."

"Look, I'm here to... I want you to come back with me," Roy said. "Back to Gotham."

"I can't," Hayley said. "The police, they sent me here."

"Well, that's the thing," Roy said. "You'd come back and live with me under the care of the Commissioner."

"...Bruce Wayne?" Hayley said. "You're living with Bruce Wayne? You gotta be joking."

"I'm not joking, Hayley," Roy said. "I just... he's the good guy, Hayley. I know that whatever went through you that night was scary and awful, but he's not your enemy."

Way to just throw reality at the crazy girl's face, Roy.

Hayley just started shaking her head.

"Bianca was nice to me," she said. "She'd never hurt anyone..."

"Bianca was a murderer, Hayley," Roy said. "She killed the Graustarks, those circus acrobats? And she killed Robin, too."

"You're lying!" Hayley said, even though she'd known that. She'd known forever, but she'd never thought about that. She started to cry. "Leave me alone. Go back to Gotham and take your stupid Bruce Wayne and... shove him where the sun doesn't shine!"

She started to run off.

"Hayley, don't!" Roy shouted after her. He sighed. Hopefully he'd manage to talk to her later. Explain things better.
