Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.
Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2009!

The woman with him was idly plucking up select pieces of grass and blowing them away with a silent smile. She eventually found a leaf She liked and stuck it in Her hair, too.

"We're not bringing those back with us," Metatron warned crankily. "You're going to start a leaf collection any bloody day."

She stuck her tongue out at him.

"For such a powerful deity, you're extraordinarily immature," Metatron said, looking around for the person they were visiting. "Do you see him anywhere?"

She shook her head, but then She also wasn't really looking for Loki. She was busy trying to line up enough space to do a cartwheel.

It wasn't that hard to hear Metatron's fucking complaining so Loki shouldered his way through the crowd, insult on his lips when he saw who was with Metatron.

That was an unexpected visitor and it took Loki a second to kneel in respect. Well, this changed things, didn't it?

"You found him," Metatron said dryly, giving Loki a look. "And he's remembered his manners."

She smiled indulgently, gently reaching a hand down to pat Loki's head.

And he was getting patted on the head. Right, he had to remember that God had a fucking kooky way about Her when she was among mortals.

He stood up and stared for a minute. "Couldn't come alone, Metatron?"

"There's an arcade here," Metatron said, slanting a glance at his companion. "I couldn't keep Her away if I tried. She's quite bored lately. Telling Her to take up checkers just got me a flick on my nose."

She nodded Her agreement, making a face. Checkers were boring. She should know, She created them to keep old men entertained.

"Of course," he said, feeling a lot more nervous than normal. He was just hoping God wasn't here to make his head resemble Bartleby's. "Well, welcome to the weirdest fucking place in the fucking world."

It seemed like that was true, anyway.

"Weirdest?" Metatron repeated, looking around. "It doesn't look any different than a rather large family reunion. I am expecting a fight to break out though. Just so the humans can get on the news and act like they've become famous."

She ignored them, largely, picking up a dandelion and threading it into Her hair.

Loki eyed Her for a moment before turning his attention back to Metatron.

"Do you not listen to a fucking thing I say when I talk to you?" he wondered. "This place is fucking weird. I turned into a fucking girl the other week."

And he was back to looking at God. "Thanks for letting that happen by the way."

"Whining does not become you, Loki," Metatron said, making sure his companion didn't wander off again. "And I thought you'd stopped questioning what She did."

Re: Mingling | PW1

She tilted Her head at him, because that was as close as She'd come to agreeing with that statement.

Loki thought about arguing but then he realized he'd just be arguing with God and he'd never win that one.

"Do you wanna see the arcade?" Loki offered. Might as well get Her there before She started getting antsy.

"Anywhere there's a chair," Metatron complained, looking around at the throng of people. "And fewer humans. I'd rather not be recognized."

Metatron wasn't in a movie, there was no way that would happen.

She considered, and then nodded. Skee-ball was one of Her favorite creations.

"Let's go," Loki said, thinking the faster he got Her out of the crowd, the easier it would be to make sure she didn't end up getting lost.
