fandomtownies | Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Cole sighed and shrugged. "Not some of my finer moments back at that age," he admitted. "Wanted to prove to everyone that I was an evil demon. But a couple of years in limbo will mellow you out."

"So if I send him there, he'd thank me?" Anakin asked hopefully.

No, Anakin. Probably not.

Definitely not.

Cole arched a brow. "Do you hate him enough to condemn him to a loveless eternity?"

Well, put that way, no.

"No," Anakin admitted. "But he's still a jackass."

Cole had to smile a little. "What'd he do? Get into fights with you? Try to steal your girlfriend?"

"Yes and yes," Anakin said, rolling his eyes. "Eighteen years old is seldom an excellent, mature time for anyone."

"Especially for a half-demon with a chip on his shoulder," Cole said. "But hopefully he won't end up where I am."

"Invisible to most of the world?" Anakin said sympathetically. For him. To a guy that looked like Bel.

"Truth be told, it sucks," Cole said. "But I've come to terms with it. It's not entirely undeserved."

"What did you do?" Anakin asked.

He knew a thing or two about atonement.

"Had a long and illustrious career as a killer of innocents," Cole said. "Fell for a witch, changed my evil ways, got myself possessed, died, came back insane, died again. The second time it stuck. Mostly."

"Drake mentioned the possession," Anakin recalled. "Is the witch still Phoebe?"

"Still?" Cole said. The expression on his face made it clear that yes, the witch in question was definitely Phoebe. "You know her, too?"

"She also went to this high school," Anakin said. "It's a bit of a nexus for the interesting."

Could a ghost get a catch in his throat? Because Cole totally was. "So he...and she...they are together?"

"As far as I know," Anakin said. "Bel and I aren't exactly penpals."

"Well, if they are, I hope he doesn't screw things up like ~~the @#$%&* writers~~ I did," Cole said wistfully.

Anakin decided not to mention the threesome thing. "Maybe you'll get a second chance."

That would probably make his brain break.

"I just want her to be happy," Cole said. "Doesn't matter what happens to me as long as she's happy."

He wore martyr well, didn't he?

Anakin didn't roll his eyes. He was very proud of himself. "Just don't be the ghost in the corner watching her her entire life," he recommended. "That's less devotion and more creepy stalker."

Cole had the decency to look a little guilty at that comment. "Been there, done that," he said. "Part of the reason I ended up where I am. I don't want to go down that path again."
