fandomtownies | Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

"Religion," he replied. "Hubris from Revelation, specifically."

Clearly Kate didn't approve of her family being told of this, but he couldn't really see why. "And I told her ~~handwavily about visiting your home with Kate."~~

Now Kate felt like she needed to defend herself. A little bit.

"It's not like I was trying to hide that I'm taking a class." Of course not. She had just been trying to hide who was teaching it. "I just got distracted and forgot to mention it. It's an interesting class."

"You are taking a religion class?" Marshall asked skeptically. He remembered her giving him shit about doing the hell house to get close to Jason.

Noting Marshall's reaction, Leto chose not to comment on it. Instead he just added: "As I said, Ghanima would certainly be happy to meet you."

"What? It's not that hard to believe," Kate told her brother, knowing full well that yes, it was. She had her reasons for taking the class, and Marshall was free to question her about them, but not in front of neither Leto nor Tara.

And she had no comments to make on the suggested Atreides – Gregson meeting. Except maybe omg HELP, but that wasn't exactly something she could say out loud.

"Maybe your sister and stepmother and you can join us for dinner tomorrow," Tara suggested, oblivious to her daughter's distress.

"I will ask them," Leto replied. That also offered an opportunity to talk to Kate beforehand about what exactly she was concerned about. His family could certainly avoid certain topics when necessary.

Well, at least there wasn't going to be any immediate crisis.

"So, guys, should we get going?" Kate asked Tara and Marshall. "I'm sure Leto has other people to-" figuratively throw under busses "-meet. Don't wanna take up too much of his time."

She gave Leto a look, not unlike the one she'd gotten from her mother earlier. "I'll be in touch."
