fandomtownies | Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

"I don't think I have," Fraser said, turning his eyes to the small baby. "Hello there."

"This is Juliet," she said, lifting the baby up just a little bit.

Juliet didn't say hi back, exactly, but she did babble and flail a fist.

"Hello, Juliet," Fraser said, touching that tiny fist with a finger and grinning. "Aren't you the gorgeous one?"

"How have you been, Constable?" Rory asked, hefting Juliet a little higher so she could grasp onto that finger and hold tight. Babies were good at that.

"I've been quite well," he said and grinned. "I'm getting married."

At some point. But it was happening.

"Congratulations!" Rory said, wide-eyed. "To the lady you brought to my wedding?" She was struggling to remember the woman's name but all she really recalled was that she'd just about emptied the bar.

"Yes, to her," he said, glancing around for her. "That's quite a good memory you have."

"She was tall and had a pretty dress. I have a nearly-photographic memory," she said, grinning at him. "Congrats. Have you guys set a date yet?"

"Not yet," he said, shaking his head. "We're taking our time. The thought of marriage is very new to her."

"I'm happy for you, anyway," Rory said, grinning at him. Juliet finally relinquished his finger and flailed her little arms a bit, babbling.

"Is she all right?" Fraser wondered, wincing. "Did I do something?"

"She's talking to you," Rory said, laughing. "Want to hold her?"

"Is that allowed?" Fraser asked, looking slightly surprised. "Can I?"

"Well, her mother just offered," Rory pointed out, holding out the baby to him. "If there's another authority you should consult, I'm not sure I'm aware of it."

"I apologize," he laughed and took the baby very gently, amazed at the lightweight. "Hello, little one."

Juliet burbled happily, flailing her little legs a bit as well.

"She likes you," Rory declared.

"You can tell that?" Fraser asked, bouncing the baby around some and sticking his tongue out at her.

"She's happy," Rory noted, as Juliet almost giggled. She didn't really know how to smile on purpose yet.
