Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]
Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.
The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.
Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Re: Mingling | PW1
"My name isn't as common now as it was 50,000 years ago, when it was first given to me," he said mildly. Then, in a soft voice, almost a croon, Saetan asked, "Why, have you heard of it before?"
Re: Mingling | PW1
He had no idea if this meant anything to anyone not Christian. He wasn't good with other people's religions. Shit, he wasn't good with Christianity either.
Re: Mingling | PW1
Re: Mingling | PW1
Wow, that seemed like a stupid thing to ask.

Re: Mingling | PW1
Re: Mingling | PW1
She wicked grin she slanted Saetan's way was at odds with her utterly innocent tone. "Not that either of us would accuse you of hiding in your study," she assured him. "Or that you go to Hell when you need peace and quiet."
Re: Mingling | PW1
Then he returned his attention to the boy. "Chuck Bass," he said, the name rolling smoothly off his tongue. "The pleasure is entirely mine. I assume you know my niece rather well?"
Re: Mingling | PW1
"Not as well as I'd like, I'm afraid, but well enough to know how special she is." Chuck felt that way about most people who could use magic or had powers. "Anything at Caritas is, of course, on the house for you this weekend. I have respect for people who appreciate good liquor."
Re: Mingling | PW1
"Well, we haven't had class together recently," Karla said. "Though I did vote for you on the radio."
*I, uhh, kind of forgot to warn you about something,* Karla sent on a specific spear-thread once she felt Saetan take that step back. Her sending was more than a bit guilty though. *They have a Hell and a 'Satan,' too. It's a--bad place. Where the souls of the dead go if they are evil. Ruled by a creature who is also evil. But it isn't you.*
Re: Mingling | PW1
"I do enjoy a fine brandy," Saetan said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "But I have quite the preference for a glass of Yarbarah. You seem to be quite the connoisseur, Chuck Bass. Perhaps you might like to try some."
He called in a vintage bottle and two glasses, using Craft to pour the dark red liquid. He warmed the blood wine with two small balls of witchfire, and then floated one before the boy.
*And does this place really exist?* Saetan asked as he waited for Chuck to accept the glass. *Where can I grant an audience with this...ruler?*
Re: Mingling | PW1
"Thank you," Chuck said, accepting the glass. There may have been some glancing to make sure his father wasn't anywhere in sight before he took a sip.
Re: Mingling | PW1
The first taste of the yarbarah would likely an unpleasant surprise. The wine was a full-bodied Kaeleeran red--only the strongest vintages were used to make the yarbarah for the Guardians. The predominant taste however would be rich, salty blood; more than strong enough to overwhelm the small ratio of wine. To say that most of the living sputtered upon trying their first taste of yarbarah was almost as big an understatement as suggesting that Chuck Bass might have an eye for the ladies.
*You are not helping that image, Prince SaDiablo,* Karla sent.
Re: Mingling | PW1
Then he drank a mouthful of the full, rich yarbarah, letting the thick blood warm his throat and invigorate him, and waited for Chuck's reaction.
Re: Mingling | PW1
And, sadly, this wouldn't be the last time he drank something blood flavored today.
"That's...interesting," Chuck said, not pulling off the cool, calm look he was going for. "Probably takes some getting used to."
Re: Mingling | PW1
"Here, Chuck, let me vanish that," Karla said, holding out her hand for the glass. "My uncle forgets that our culture can be a bit surprising to people from other places. You don't have to finish it, it's fine."
