fandomtownies | Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Town Park [Friday Afternoon]

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

"I know," Sam said. "But some stuff shouldn't be said over the phone either."

"So there is something," Dean said, leaping on that.

Sam sighed. "You're going to be mad," he said, like that would make Dean stop asking questions.

"Sammy...." Dean said, a touch of exasperation hitting his voice.

"It's serious, Dean. Really, really serious," Sam said. "It's about my visions. And Yellow Eyes."

That got his attention like practically nothing else. "Tell me," he said.

Sam took a deep breath and tried to figure out how to summarize everything that had happened. "Yellow Eyes wasn't lying about there being others like me. There's a guy here named Andy who's been through the same stuff as us - his mom died in a fire in his nursery when he was six months old, and he's got an ability now. I didn't know about it until he got to talking to Castiel, and then Andy talked to me, and Castiel said the demon did the same thing to both of us."

"Did what?" Dean asked, latching onto that last bit. It didn't sound good.

"I always thought he'd been trying to take me," Sam said. "And Mom caught him and that's why he killed her. But that wasn't why he was there. He was there to feed me his blood." All the time he'd spent thinking about it, and it still sounded terrible and impossible to him. "I have demon blood in me, Dean. That's why I have visions."

Dean just stared at his brother for a long moment.

The longer Dean stayed quiet, the more worried Sam got. "I'm sorry. I know this is bad and it makes me even more of a freak and now I really don't know what Yellow Eyes has planned and I just--please don't hate me?" However Dean felt, Dad was going to feel twenty times worse, Sam was sure of it.

That got Dean to snap out of the staring. "Hate you? Sammy, I could never..." He put his plate down and deliberately hugged his brother again, using both hands this time.

Sam didn't hesitate before hugging Dean back. "I haven't been keeping this from you. I just found out for sure yesterday," he said. "Tell me you're not afraid of me?"

"Dude, would I be making with the hugging if I was afraid of you?"

"I don't know. It's not any less dangerous than hunting."

Dean chuckled at that, the sound a bit muffled and thick sounding. "We're going to have to talk about how you hug if you think that."

"I meant being around me in general," Sam said. "I'm...I don't even know what I am anymore."

"You're my little brother," Dean said, conviction resonating from every pore. "You're Sammy."

"Your little demon-infected brother," Sam replied. "You don't think this changes things?"

"If it were me that we found out was infected with something, say Manticore slipped something into my DNA when they had me, would it change things about me for you?" Dean asked.

Why did everyone insist on using logic on him with this? It's like they all wanted him to be rational.

"No," he said. "I mean, it wouldn't even be your fault or anything."

"Do I need to point out the obvious to you here?"

"We don't hunt people from Manticore," Sam pointed out, like that made all the difference. "It's not just that there's something in me, it's that it ties me to a demon."

"Dude, we've had demons hanging over us for years," Dean pointed out. "Not like we're not used to that by now."

"It brings the demons closer to home though," Sam said. "To Dad and Zoe and Grace."
