Winter Carnival | All Day | The Park | January 31 [Post #1]

It was a new day and there was no better way to start a new day than with the continuation of the carnival. There was still snow coating the ground but the atmosphere was as lively as ever. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

"The Easter Bunny," Alex said dryly, straightening up when he realized who was talking to him. "Didn't think you'd be out, spreading your joy around."

"I like a carnival same as the next person," he shrugged, sitting down by Karev. "Lots of peculiar sights."

Alex eyed him with some mild surprise before shrugging. "Surprised you're not manning a kissing booth this time."

"No one signed me up against my will, so it seems I lucked out." His lips were no longer for sale. "Don't tell me you were hoping to stop by, because I really don't go for that."

"No," he said dully, shaking his head. "No urge to pay anyone to kiss me. I can get them for free, if I want."

"Of course, you've got your girlfriend and all," Griff returned, hoping to poke at Karev just a little with his words.

"Fuck you," Alex said, just a little sore on that point. "I went and saw your ex a few weeks ago, you know. I wanted to see what she did to you."

"Did to me?" Griff scoffed. "Yeah, I bet you got a great story." About how he was so very injured and unwilling to accept it.

"I mostly blamed her." It had made him feel better.

Griff grinned, "Well, she's good for that."

"I kinda went there to gloat too," Alex admitted, shrugging. "About you dumping her."

Weeks later, Griff did feel a little stab of regret about that day, but it was all for the best. No emotional attachments, no getting anyone else killed. "I've learned a thing or two about how relationships can kill you. You ought to be proud."

"Yeah, right," Alex said half heartedly. Funny, Griff didn't even know where he'd gotten in his thing with Effy since they'd been acting like little bitchy girls. "That mean we should set up some sort of signal for nights you bring random girls home?"

"No random girls," he said with a head shake. "At least not in our room." He was still a giant virgin after all.

"Why not?" Alex wondered, smirking. "Going completely celibate?"

"Always was," he answered. "It's an ongoing situation." Had they really gone a few minutes without growling or bitching?

"That's what hookers are for," Alex joked, sending a smile in his direction. "You can borrow my porn if you get desperate."

"Thanks." Never happening. "Though I've yet to meet any Fandom hookers."

"Mainland," Alex said, nodding. "They have them there. Not that I've ever used one. But they're not hard to miss."

"I'll take your word for it." Griff had been around many towns. Hookers were not a people he'd ever really paid attention to before. "You having fun out here?"

"Not really," he said honestly. "All a little too open for me. Keep seeing shit I don't wanna see."

"Like all the people making out?" Griff still didn't know if that was ever a good plan.

"Amongst other things," he said vaguely. "You having fun?"

"Honestly? No. It look like I am?" He was trying to pretend here.

"Not really," Alex said, shrugging. "Then again, haven't really seen you lately, maybe that's your new happy face."
