April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

"Doing it, huh?" Kennedy couldn't resist the joke, or the waggle of her eyebrows. "Okay then-- let me come up with something."

She took a few moments to flip through the selections, ending up with... well, Fleetwood Mac was always a good choice, right?

The thing was, Kennedy was so not Christine McVie, so she strained way too much on some of the higher notes, but she gave it her best try anyway, and she was enjoying herself despite the lack of artistic merit.

"You," she said as she hopped off the stage and reached for Tara's hand, "are probably the only person who enjoyed that."

"But I enjoyed it enough to make up for everyone else!" Tara protested, possibly with a certain lack of logic. "That's such a pretty song, sweetie. Thank you."

"It's also true," Kennedy pointed out with a grin. "Still say you did better, but this is so not an argument we're having."

"Like I'd make it an argument," Tara said. "I like to sing, but it's not like I've had lessons or anything. It's just fun."

"Uh huh. I love hearing you sing," Kennedy replied. "Also fun? Hitting the dance floor. We should do that at some point."

"I can do that whenever you hear a song you like," Tara said. "We should check out the food at some point, too."

"Food, totally a given," Kennedy declared, nodding. "As is the need to go and be crazy adorable with you on the dance floor as soon as I hear something appropriate to our level of collective hotness."

She grinned. "Everybody just wishes they were as cute as we are."

"I think the word is 'duh,'" Tara giggled, leaning in to try for a kiss. "And there are a lot of cute girls here, too."

"Duly noticed," Kennedy drawled before she closed the distance, trying to let the kiss linger for a few moments. "Only one of 'em gets me, though."

"And not the blonde over there?" Tara teased, gesturing into the crowd with the hand that wasn't sneaking toward Kennedy's hip.

Kennedy peered into the crowd, spotting... several people who could have fit that description ~~and had a high likelihood of being one of my others, oops~~, but not with a huge amount of effort put into the search.

"Maaaaaaaaaaaybe," she teased right back, pretending not to notice any sneaky hands coming her way. "But I don't think she's my type."

It was true; theirs was a very, very blonde world. Which may be why Tara picked such a vague description.

"Too bad for her," Tara decided, tapping her fingers against Kennedy's hip. "But good news for me, huh?"

"So totally," Kennedy declared, and hello, fingers, could she lean into the hand you belonged to? "I mean, unless you were planning on going home with someone else..."

"Nah," Tara said, spreading her palm a bit to encourage that whole leaning thing a bit. "That blonde's not my type either. I have this thing for brunettes..."

"Let you in on a little secret?" Kennedy leaned a little more firmly into that touch and reached up to play with the ends of Tara's hair. "They're usually more my type too; you're kinda an exception to the rule that way."

"I can live with that," Tara decided. "Besides, I like ch-changing it. It could be brown sometime."

"I love the stuff you do with your hair sometimes," Kennedy told her. "The streaks and stuff? Those are cool."

The most she did with hers was occasionally get a perm.

She tilted her head thoughtfully, studying Tara's face. "Okay, I don't think you'd look bad that way? But it might be a little weird."

"I could try it for a little bit," Tara said thoughtfully. "Use the wash-out stuff. That's all I usually do anyhow. I get too irritated with my roots..."

She was babbling a little.

"Would it really be weird?"

"Different," Kennedy amended. "Not bad-weird, just different-weird. So sure, you could try it. Why not?"

...she didn't mind at all when Tara babbled, no.

"No reason." a pause, because Tara's hair styling decisions really weren't all that interesting when there was kissing and nuzzling to do. "I ...lost track of what we were talking about."

"There was talking?" Kennedy's lips had found Tara's ear now, so... probably not for long.
