It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

THREE MINUTE DATES!

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

So, the whole dating thing was very much not Connor's strength, so he was approaching this whole thing more as a chance to get to meet more people. Socialize. Seeing how he was still pretty new and all himself.

This was someone that he did not know, "hey I'm Shane Gooseman," he said as he sat down at the table. "most people call me Goose," he added.

"Good to meet ya, Goose," Connor said with a small grin and nod. That was an interesting nickname to go by... but Connor really couldn't say much. Some of his mates back home had some odd-ball names they chose to go by too.

"This a regular thing here on the island?" he asked, still wrapping his mind around the whole speed dating thing.

"Same here," Goose nodded, "they usually have them a couple of times a year, I do believe the next one will be in February, it's been going on for a while," he told him, "they used to have these back when I was a student here," he added.

"Guess there are enough of us new people coming in to keep it from getting too monotonous each time" Connor reasoned. "And being a student here, that must be wild. I'd have been in heaven going to a place like this instead of the bloody boarding school I got shipped off to!"

“Well there weren’t really a lot of options for me back home,” Goose admitted and honestly they still weren’t and it was why he had been reassigned back here, “it wasn’t so bad really, could have been a lot worse,” he paused, “where did you go to boarding school?” he asked curiously.

"Over in London, grew up there an everything. Went to an all boy's school for part of that time. Worked there for a couple years too until...." Connor trailed off a bit thinking about what all had lead up to him coming to Fandom in the first place. "Well until the team decided it would be best if I took a break. Figured this was a good place."

"Oh," Goose nodded, "I went to a ... military school before Fandom," he offered, since that was technically what Wolf Den was, "got reassigned here last year, ended up with a promotion that a lot of people weren't to happy about," he explained, "so I'm here til things cool down," he added.

"Ah, promotion jealousy... That can be brutal at times. Sorry you having to go through that. But at least Fandom seems to be doing good for you in tge meantime."

Goose nodded, "it definitely has, I ended up meeting someone here, never thought that would happen," he paused, "I never thought I'd end up teaching either but classes haven't been so bad," he admitted.

"Aye, my mate Cutter, he just moved here to teach also. Seems to be going pretty well for him too. Definitely seems like the place has a little bit of everything for everyone" Connor added just as the signal sounded for the switching time. "Was good to meet ya, Goose Hope to see ya around again!"
