Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

Look, Jon dated Martin. He had no problem with tall people or big people. But when your date was easily twice your size (and roughly 1,000 times your enthusiasm)...

He waved feebly.

Oh, Jon. And if you thought that feeble little wave would do anything but inspire Sidon to just turn up the charm and enthusiasm even more to make up for it....

He met that wave with a broad, toothy grin and a big, boisterous laugh, as well as a sweep of his arm in a much more dramatic sort of wave that landed with his hand on the chair, pulling it out, and carefully threatening to break yet another one.

"And so the event," he declared, "swiftly finds itself near its conclusion, and our very final round! I hope you've certainly had a good time of it thus far, Jon, and, if not, then I hope that I may at least turn the tides, as it was, and make up for it in the zero hour!"

The thing about it, though, was that for all Jon's various fears and anxieties...Sidon didn't trigger any of them, and that enthusiasm was impossible not to be affected by.

"I, um." Jon laughed a little. "Well, it hasn't been too bad, but you're certainly the cheeriest. I hope you've had good dates."

Sidon chuckled at that, as if to only prove that Jon was certainly not wrong about his cheeriness, and the grin that went along with it added even more evidence. "They have all been quite wonderful, thank you," he said, "but that is hardly any surprise, is it? There are many things to enjoy about this fair isle, but none of them nearly as marvelous as the people that inhabit it! I only wish I have more time to socialize a bit more, but I'm glad I've been able to spare, at the very least, these fifteen minutes."
