It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

“Shane Gooseman,” Goose nodded, “most people call me Goose,” he paused, “oh I do know Liz,” he added, which did feel a bit strange that he did actually know who someone was, “it’s nice to meet you,” he added.

"You as well," Steven said. He gave Goose an apologetic look. "I'm afraid I'm not here looking to date anyone. I'm already in a relationship, you see. Happily so. Don't mind making new friends though, if that's all right?"

Steven was almost certain Goose had someone of his own as well but Steven's memory being what it was he didn't want to say so and get it wrong.

“Oh that’s okay,” Goose assured him, “I’m seeing someone else as well … I mean … it’s … he’s from the same world Prompto is, I haven’t actually seen him in a few months but I … I hope I do get to see him again,” he paused, “I don’t really tend to meet a lot of people these days, I thought I should change that,” he admitted.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Steven said. "I know how hard it's been for Liz with Prompto being gone I imagine it's the same for you as well."

Perhaps slightly different since as far as Steven knew Goose wasn't pregnant, but still.

"It's good to meet new people though," Steven said. "It's amazing how the island's so small yet some people you never run into."

“I think it’s been a bit harder for her,” Goose considered as he looked round to see if he could spot where she was sitting, “I mean I’m not currently pregnant,” he added, in case that needed to be clarified “but we haven’t had much success in making contact with Prompto and Ignis again,” he admitted.

He paused, "I know it can be a bit like that, I’ve been back at Fandom for a year now and there’s still people I haven’t met in that time,”

Steven appreciated the clarification since he didn't want to make assumptions. "Well I'm glad we've had the chance at last. Liz speaks well of you. Good to put the name to a face. You know, officially."

As opposed to unofficially which was Steven knowing what Goose looked like thanks to Marc. Not that Goose would understand that clarification. Maybe it was a good thing that the buzzer was about to go off at any moment.

“Same here, “ Goose told him, nodding, not thinking anything unusual about the use of the word officially, “I mean … she’s told me a lot about you as well, all good things” he added quickly.

Steven was touched to hear that. "That's very kind of her."

And there was the buzzer.

"Oh dear." Steven held his hand out to shake. "That's is then. It was good to meet you. Would mind chatting again sometime. I'm at the museum if you ever want to find me."

Or, you know, the apartment building they both lived in. But Steven didn't know if it would sound creepy for him to know that.
