It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

"Hey, there, roommate!" said Graham, grinning as he made his way to the first table with his drink, which, inexplicably, came with a silly straw, apparently. "Here's to hoping you don't fall asleep on me! That would not portend well for the fate of my future dates, methinks!"

Gray might have envied the silly straw. But he had brought in his own drink from the Perk, an enormous iced coffee laden with sugar and whipped cream, and he held it up proudly to show Graham. "I came prepared. And I took a nap on Ray's sofa before we came over here, so hopefully I've got a few good hours in me...or at least fifteen minutes." You could never tell what Sloth would decide.

"At least if I did fall asleep on you you'd know it could only go up from here?" he teased.

Graham was stupid proud of that silly straw, which he made good use out of as he listened to Gray, finishing off with a laugh.

"And a boost of confidence," he mused, "for my other dates. 'Just so long as you stay awake, you're doing better than the first guy!' Although, now, if any of them fall asleep, too, then I'll know that's probably a me problem not a you problem!"

Ah, zards! Was he going to be worried about putting all his dates to sleep now?

So jealous of the silly straw.

"I'm sure none of your other dates will fall asleep," Gray assured Graham. "And at this point I'm bound to make it at least a few more minutes, so you're almost home free with me, too! But what are you up to, lately, besides sleeping in our room? The DnD thing, right, how's that going?" Gray couldn't do anything that required a lengthy attention span like that.

"Awww, that's nice of you to say, Gray," said Graham, appreciating the vote of confidence, "thanks! And, ohhhh, the DnD is going great! Kind of slow moving, we spend a lot of time just chatting and snacking before hand, but it's a lot of fun, and everyone seems to be having a good time? They keep coming back for more, anyway, so that's a good sign! Other than that, it's not much, really, just classes, and training with Triumph! I asked if he wanted to come, but he said he'd rather just sleep! I think," he had to throw in a laugh now, "you're having quite the influence on him, Gray!

"Speaking of which," he took a sip from his drink, and a chuckle, "what have you been up to? Besides sleeping in our room? And outside of it, and probably a lot of other places, too."

"Oh, I wouldn't worry about me influencing Triumph," Gray reassured Graham, weirdly serious. "Animals don't really sin."

Then, as if that had been at all a normal thing to say, he started chattering away. "It's been mostly classes and stuff for me, too, but did I tell you one of my brothers moved here? I forget who I've talked to about it. Ray's running the pizza place now, which is...terrifying, we're going to lose so much money, and also annoying because I don't need a babysitter, but he does make really good pizza, so I guess the island wins?"

"You did tell me that!" Graham confirmed, enthusiastically, but then, he pulled back with a moment of doubt. "I think?" Now he wasn't so sure. There were so many new people to keep track of! "Anyway, I should probably stop in and see him, then, huh? And I do love pizza! It's be nice to meet one of your brothers, but I can see how that would frustrating! I can't even imagine what it would be like, having one of my sisters around here!"

Mostly because they were nameless, faceless info drops, but that was beside the point!

Hey, it could have happened offscreen, for all they knew! "Maybe you could have pizza at your DnD thing," Gray suggested, because he wanted to contribute in some way even if he could not participate. All the sleeping wouldn't be fair to the other players.

"Having your sisters around might not be so bad if it happened!" Gray reasoned. "I thought having Ray here would be awful, but I've barely seen him so far, and when I have it's been nice. Partially because he feeds me, but, you know. Family and all that."

"Steph did bring us pizza on our first game night," Graham noted, thinking fondly back at that epic addition to their snack table. "And it was pretty great. We usually have plenty to eat, but there's no such thing as too much. Maybe I can look into it! Maybe he can make us one with everyone's favorite foods on it!"

Graham.

Graham, no.

"And, you know, if you ever wanted to stop by and check it out," Graham added , with an apologetic smile, because he'd always meant to invite Gray, but never got around to it, which said a lot about his spaciness, since they lived together, "you're more than welcome to! We'd love to have you, even if just for one or a few sessions! I can always easily work in a new face or a guest star!"

"He would totally do that for you," Gray said with absolute certainty. It would be an abomination, but Raiden would totally do it. He would also definitely agree with there never being such a thing as 'too much.'

"And yeah, I might do that some time!" Gray...sort of lied, rather than bring down the mood right before the buzzer by telling Graham that it wouldn't be fair to the other players when he was asleep during his turn. You never knew! He might have a really awake day some Friday! He could always hope.

Hey, they could always work the sleeping into character some how! Graham could make it work! Somehow!

But, for the moment, he was just grinning, pleased at the prospect of Gray maybe joining them and what was clearly destined to be the greatest pizza ever created,when her heard the buzzer.

"Oh!" He blinked a little. "Does that mean the round is over? Well! In that case..."

Graham pushed back his chair and hopped to his feet, so he could get a better dramatic flourish of his cloak as he bowed to Gray and pronounced, "Thank you for a most excellent date experience, Gray! I wish you the best of luck in your further dating endeavours ahead, and, just so you know, I do have plenty of space in my cloak tonight, so if you do fall asleep and need someone to take you home, not only do I have room, but it's on my way, besides!"

Because, yes, that was a thing he could, just....put people in his cloak.
