Caritas- Saturday before 8:15 pm

It was that time of year again! New people were here! New people to date, get to know, or perhaps make a mortal enemy of!

You never know.

Signs were hung up in front of the bar, both obviously, and easy to miss for anyone who might wander in and get signed up without their knowledge. Above the bar was a banner (in glitter):

TONIGHT!
THREE MINUTE DATES!
GOOD LUCK WBRURBODY

Your hostess wasn't gonna question it. And a few minutes before 8:00, she took the stage.

"Hello, everyone! And welcome to Three Minute Dates!" Kitty greeted them. "If you're new to this, the rules are simple. We call your name along with one other person. You talk to this person, get to know their likes, their loves, their dreams. After three minutes, a buzzer will sound-" Pause for the sound. "-and you'll hear your name paired with a different person. Et cetera. If there is anyone you'd like to talk to more, the bar will be open afterwards for drinks and conversation. Remember that any violence will get you transported into the pond, but also please don't attempt violence in order to flee, that is rude to the rest of your dates. Now I'm going to get off the stage. Have fun, and good luck..."

She trailed off, not going to attempt to pronounce the word on that sign.

[Hold for so much OCD OCD up! Date away!

"Connor Temple, new transplant from across the pond," Connor said with a grin. And he was gonna skip the list of adjectives because somehow against that list, geek, nerd, goof ball, and all around poor decision maker just didn't seem to stack up very well.

So instead, Connor was definitely going to latch onto one of those aforementioned descriptors.

"Wait.... did you say mage? Like what? A stage magician or something?" Connor was already interested because...DUH!... Magic!

"Less stage, more..." John set his drink down and unfurled his hand, a tiny dancing flame in the center of his palm. "Real."

"Welcome to Fandom Island, Connor Temple. Gods, demons, magic, aliens... it's all real here. Even this bar has magic running through its bones."

Connor stared for a moment and then gave a small laugh. "Ok... nice trick. You're using flash paper rig..." Ok no, that flame wasn't going out and Connor could actually feel a little heat coming from the flames.

"Are you for real, mate?" he asked, eyes going wide. "Like real bloody magic? Like in books and movies?"

Sorry John, Connor's base of reference for a lot of things was geek culture, conspiracy theories, fan culture, and the like.

"You can feel up my sleeve if you like, but there's no rig there," he quipped. "Just a smashing collection of tattoos."

"I'm not even the only mage in this bloody bar tonight. Island's mad with the us magical lot."

"So like... magic is real. Not just tricks and effects?" Connor felt like his brain was overheating a bit.

"I mean we have something similar, kinda, to the portals back home... back in my... reality I guess (that was still a bit much for him to get used to saying out loud). But actual magic? That is so cool!"
