Jarod whistled as he opened the bar, to the point where the zombies were elbowing each other in a knowing fashion and Tino kept hoping for some good gossip, which he wouldn't get. When it was quiet, Jarod once again worked on his laptop, closing it when he sensed anyone coming close enough to read the screen.

A sign was posted on the door:

No one ever saw past the glasses. It's why the disguise worked. "Most of my traveling was on business." he said. "Though I always try to get in some sight seeing wherever I go."

"Oh, which places have you been in?" One of the perks of working for Torchwood was that it also allowed Rose to indulge in her wanderlust.

"Well in the states I've seen most of the major cities, plus Niagara Falls and the Hoover damn," he started. "But I've been to London and Paris once or twice, Rome once, as well as Tokyo and Moscow." Some of those were even as Clark Kent.

"I've been to most of those, but mostly I've been to Kyoto." In 1336, Rose didn't add. "It's one of the things I love about my job, the travelling." She paused, "I meant, my other job."

"Oh? What's your other job? Mine was journalism."

"Oh, you know, something for the government." She said deliberately vague.

"There were all sorts of jobs for the government, but he decided to let be. "Are you changing careers or is this a sabbatical for you?"

"Sabbatical," She said, grinning, "They'll fall apart if I don't come back."

Clark grinned as well. "Nice to be needed isn't it?"

"It certainly is," Rose tilted her head, "Journalism and the hotel business, seems a bit of a leap."

"It certainly was." Clark laughed ruefully. "Things weren't working out so well personally back in Metropolis so I came here. And wound up getting tricked into taking over the hotel."

"Now that's a story and a half, if I haven't heard one." Rose laughed, "Must be a great talker to have you suddenly running a hotel."

"He was rather persuasive." Clark agreed. "He hid the contract in with the bill for me to sign."

Rose giggled. "That sounds like a move a friend of mine would use."

"They have a habit of tricking people into taking over their job?" Clark grinned.

"No, it's another friend, he was... let's just say he tricked people for a living." Rose paused and thought about the Doctor, "Although, mind you the other one could also talk his way into anything."

"I've known one or two people like that." Clark said, thinking of Lois and her ability to fast talk. "It's a usefull skill for a journalist."

"Or for defending the Earth," agreed Rose.

Clark raised an eyebrow. He'd never quite managed that. He'd been aided by a villain's former moll, but not cause he'd talked her into it.

"Is, is that your job then?"

Oops. How many has she been drinking anyway?

"You could say that." She said, then rolled her eyes, oh hell better come out and say it anyway. Maybe Clark would assume she was gettin' a bit tipsy. "Yes. Yes, it's my job but don't tell anyone, supposed to be a secret or something."

"I'm good at keeping secrets." he assured her, smiling. "Is that good?" he asked, pointing to her drink.

"It's fantastic!" She said, lifting the glass, "You should try it, banana daquiri."

"I think I will." he said, ordering one for himself. "That's a flavor of daquieri that never occured to me."

"My friend practically invented it." She told him. "Literally."

"A fan of bannanas?"
