A series of tents (in various sizes) and covered walkways had sprung up all over the park by midday. There were lots of open spaces, but one could easily get to any part of the carnival without venturing out into the sunlight. Only some of the seating and the big rides - the Ferris wheel, swings, and merry-go-round sat out in the open.

The sounds and smells reached all inhabited parts of the island and it was hard to miss all of the bright colors.

The Homecoming Carnival is open to all residents of Fandom. Weather modding says that any showers predicted for today will miss the island completely. It is a lovely fall day, if a bit warm. This is post one of two and has the concessions, seating, games, rides, and the mud pit which are all free to mod. The second post is here. OCD is up! Have fun!]]

Any Carnival food you like: corndogs, cotton candy, hot dogs, funnel cakes, deep fried snickers on a stick, etc.

There were a good number of picnic tables and benches right near the tent containing all of the food vendors. A lot were out in the sunlight, but there was also a tent attached directly to the concession area that held many more for those that didn't like to eat outside.

No gremlins were harmed during the making of this game.

Hit the base with the big hammer and make the bell ring.

People with super human strength? Please try not to break it. It's not good to make the carnies cry.

You'd think they'd remember not to bring this one to Fandom.

Little duckies are floating around in the water. "Catch" one with the fishing pole and get the prize labeled on the bottom.

There are lots of fun-shaped bottles and many, many colors of sand. Funnel the sand into the bottles to make layers and landscapes. Just don't shake the bottle when you're done.

Oh look! A mud pit. I wonder how that got there. Wouldn't it be a shame if people got dirty? Not dirty.

Whew!

Unfortunately, carnival food didn't tend to be very vegan friendly. Still, Mac had managed to get herself an apple and a drink from one of the vendors, and was sat at a free table fiddling with it.

It was times like this, she especially missed having Cally around. Homecoming was so... coupley.

Ah, Fandom. So many memories. So many people Jaye hadn't been able to give inappropriate new names to over the radio.

This last thing would be why she was sitting at a table with a soda, watching the crowd and people-watching, just to see who was mockable.

Aeryn hadn't been able to shoot anything in months. In Aeryn time, this was a very bad thing, and even if she wasn't killing anything, it was good to know she still had the ability to aim and hit things.

Katara went straight up to the concessions stand and ordered cotton candy, a funnel cake, and lemonade. The girl might be a bit hyper later.

Beauty stood and watched the ferris wheel go up and around, up and around, up and around. And tried to decide if she had the nerve to actually ride it.

River quickly found the target pracise, and figured it would be an easy way to win a big plushie something.

Lee found an empty table and chair and took a seat, wanting to get an idea of the size of the crowd before actually checking the carnival out.
