Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"Yes, well, there are, strictly speaking, laws about teenagers drinking in this country. Why they choose to abide by them for dances when no one on this island cares the rest of the time, I really couldn't tell you." Jenny produced her flask. Somehow. "Luckily, some of us have ways around that."

"You're resourceful," Arthur said. Because that was a very small dress. He'd noticed that. "To be sure."

"Fancy a top-up?" Jenny offered. "As long as I have it out and all."

"It can hardly make anything worse," he said, magnanimously, and held up his drink.

Asking her to try it first might hamper Arthur's efforts to be more diplomatic.

Jenny poured a healthy dollop of vodka into Arthur's drink, then took a pull straight from the flask before returning it to whence it mysteriously came. "So. Come here often?"

Well, that took care of that concern. Arthur held up his drink in a quick toast, then took a drink. Much better. "I can safely say," he said, "That this would be the first time. Yourself?"

He was still a few centuries short of that line.

"Not since Homecoming. Wait, was I at Homecoming?" Jenny shrugged. "Doesn't actually matter. Possibly I was drunk."

"I can hardly blame you," he said, dryly, and fiddled with the tie again. It really was... odd. "Although to be fair, it seems to be lacking in any speeches so far. That would be a point in the feast's favour."

Well, unless he was giving the speeches.

"Tell me," he said, "Are they usually like this?"

The tie was also distracting. Jenny approved. "Pretty much. It gives everyone a chance to wear fancy clothes. The theme, no, although I did successfully lobby last year for a skeletons-themed prom." Jenny would always count that as one of her greatest achievements, above even some of the times she'd saved the world. "Of course, then I couldn't go to the prom," she grumbled.

"Oh, and it's a dance, not a feast. The food is secondary."

"For some, perhaps," Arthur said, smirking at her over his drink. "The theme seems a little foreboding, but it's hardly anything to be superstitious about." He gave a pause, though. "Skeletons? Really?"

"Skeletons," Jenny confirmed. "It was marvelous." She paused. "A lot of people would tell you I'm a terrible person."

"Skeletons may be a bit... different," Arthur said, somewhat dubiously, "But that doesn't render anyone terrible."

"I thought it was funny," Jenny said. "But, again, wasn't my dance. Some of the seniors may have thought differently."

There may have been a slight pause on his side.

Arthur took a sip of his drink. And then asked, thoughtfully: "Did you catch the looks on any of their faces?"

"Sadly, no. I told you, I wasn't there. I think it went over surprisingly well, though."

"That," Arthur said, decisively, "Is a shame. And a waste of a good skeleton." He lowered the drink. "Although I hope you didn't need to have anyone killed for it."

"...fake," Jenny clarified. "Fake skeletons. We have plastics now."

"Wood would have sufficed in Camelot," he said, dryly- maybe a little amused- "Plastics?"

"You must have run across plastic by now. It's sodding everywhere," Jenny said. "Man-made stuff, everything's made from it, slowly destroying the Earth and sea turtles?"

"Explaining anything doesn't seem to be a habit common to anyone present," he said, matter-of-factly, "Barring my manservant, who's hapless enough as it is. The Tee Vee...?"

"Plastic," Jenny confirmed. "Well, the screen is glass, except on some of those new flat ones. You have a manservant?" she asked delightedly.

"Merlin," Arthur supplied, glancing past her into the room to find the little idiot skulking around in the shadows. "Gawky, dark hair, tends to wear a scarf that makes him look like an old hen."
