Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"That they do," Arthur said, thoughtfully. He looked down at his drink. "How early do you start training?"

"Lightsaber training started for me when I was fourteen. They start earlier now, though. I'm guessing Ben's probably got a few years on me there, and wow, that's weird to think about."

"Your family does hold odd connections to this place," he said. That was fairly obvious, though, and before he took a drink he said, "We begin training at seven."

"A little earlier than I'm used to, but it makes sense," she said. "Do you use standard swords, or something else?"

"'Standard' swords, yes," he nodded, "As well as the quarterstaff, the flail, the lance... although of course, nothing sharp until we're older."

Jaina raised her eyebrows. "Wow, they keep you guys nicely well-rounded in the weapons department, huh?" She could say that, figuring he didn't have much in the way of blasters or firearms there.

"Anyone can fight," Arthur said, "But to be a knight, you need the discipline and fortitude to do more than that." They were tenets he was more than usually invested in. "Including knowing your way around a weapon."

Which reminded him that he needed to ask Worf for bat'leth training soon.

"I kind of just realized that myself recently," she admitted. "The problem is, a lot of the weapons I have access to train with aren't readily accessible where I do most of my fighting back home. So I've been kind of skipping it."

"It has to stay effective, of course," he said, thoughtfully. Some of this had been on Arthur's mind since he found himself dealing with unusual weaponry on the island. "But being versatile is one of the major reasons we've been so succesful."

"Learning new stuff here then, I'm guessing?" she asked.
