Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"Dinah always seems cheery, Arthur." It was almost relaxing to be at a function like this without the eyes of the court watching his actions around Arthur.

"Cheerier than usual," he ammended. "I'm almost worried she'll put a hole in the ceiling."

Merlin snorted once in amusement over that image. "She was very excited about the dance. Although I think she may have had some of that fizzy drink..."

"Poison." Arthur's expert opinion. "Clearly. She's been poisoned in order to destroy us with her cheer."

"It's a cunning plan. Sire." Merlin could keep this up as long as Arthur. Really. "Cheer is a dangerous weapon."

Merlin turned to look at him on that. "Is that even possible? A cheerful evil?"

"If anyone could do it, it would be Dinah," Arthur said, dryly.

"The people here aren't as bad as you thought," Merlin said, maybe a bit smugly.

"Maybe," he muttered, but only because it was Merlin. "And there's Chuck," Arthur continued, observing the guests, "It's a miracle he got out of bed in time to get here."

Merlin's ears turned to see the man in question. "You know, this isn't so different from home."

"It doesn't matter. Yet," Arthur muttered, rubbing the side of his head. "But there's as much politics here as anywhere else, Merlin." He tugged on his tie.

Sighing, Merlin reached over and fixed his tie like Francine had showed him. "Are you trying to enjoy yourself at least?"

"It's a dance," Arthur said, as if that explained everything. "Plenty of people to talk to, and only about half of them bore me."

"You could ask someone to dance," Merlin suggested. "I think a few ladies would be thrilled by that."

"I don't want to give anyone ideas," Arthur said. It was that simple.

He may have glanced at Jaina once, but mentally thanked the stars she was taken. There was a logic there, yes.

"You could ask a friend," Merlin pointed out. "I've already danced with Dinah, you know."
