Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

He looked meaningfully at John. John'd always been very... settled into himself, so that Liir had seen.

"I suppose not," he said as he sipped at his pre-spiked punch, "but there's something to be said for acknowledging the problem."

He breathed out.

"Here with Jaina?"

"What's that they say? Admitting you have a problem is the first step? But I think that's for alcoholism." Shh, it could work.

"Yep, Jaina's somewhere around here." It had been difficult to separate for mingling. "You bring a date?"

He nodded.

"I'm with Amber," he told him, and wondered at how many times he'd said it this evening. Was it some sort of unconscious apology to Amber, that he was talking about her all night, or just the side effects of a dance? He couldn't be sure, but either way.

"We've... for a while."

He wasn't quite sure of the verb.

"Dated?" John offered, trying to help complete Liir's thought.

He nodded.

"We don't go out much, but yes."

It was more of a hanging out sort of thing. Dating seemed to indicate they went out for dinner all the time for him.

"We're together," he finally said.

"Sounds like things are working out well for you," John said, though he was a little unsure if he thought that was really a good thing.

"I think so," he admitted with a smile now.

As well as anything will ever work out for me.

John, as much as he liked him, did remind him of who he'd been a year ago, a much newer Liir, a fresher, more Ozian, terrified Liir. Setting them side by side as much as he could, he wondered if it was an improvement or just a change. He could only hope it was the former and not the latter, but judging the matter would be difficult.

"I'm glad to hear things are well with you and Jaina, though. I've only met her the once, and sort of awkwardly at that, but she seemed very nice at the time."
