Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"That's pretty nice of you," Turtle said, with a stout sort of nod as she found her attention rather focused on her own punch. "I mostly just go to these things for the social aspects, rather than the dancing."

"I have to confess to the same," Leto said, tilting his head as he watched Turtle. "Otherwise I would have asked you for a dance." He smiled at her.

Turtle's eyebrow lifted before her head did. "Good thing for that, then," she said, and, while her expression was impassive, there was something in her voice and a glint in her eye that suggested amusement. "I wouldn't have known if I could have said yes or not."

"Because you don't appreciate dancing or because you have little faith in my abilities as a dancing partner?" he teased her, meeting her gaze. "I would be quite hurt if it was the latter, you know." No, he wouldn't and it was quite obvious.

"It's neither, actually," Turtle informed him, coolly, with another sip although she told herself that she had to keep that gaze.

He noticed that tone. "And will you tell me the reason or should I guess?" Leto asked, not looking away.

"I'll tell you," Turtle decided, "since it might not be the same where you're from. But, you know, I'm here with my boyfriend, and might choose to go with the decorum," for some reason, she felt particular proud of that word-usage there; she almost felt like she was channeling some of Lydia's finer points, "of saving all my dances for him. Especially since he definitely deserves every one of them."

"It hadn't occurred to me that you would go to a dance and only dance with the person you escort," Leto said, his voice betraying little emotion. "And no one else has expressed that sentiment." He smiled a little. "And while I wouldn't question your judgement in this matter, at least I see no reason that I should be blamed for asking. Which, it has to be noted, I didn't even do."

Turtle grinned a little. "And, just as you didn't ask, I didn't blame you for it. Doesn't make any sense, blaming someone for something they haven't even done yet."

"No, it certainly makes no sense." Leto paused for a moment, watching Turtle thoughtfully. Then he smiled again. "Well, I'm glad we agree about this, Turtle. But I shouldn't keep you away from your boyfriend any longer." He reached out to give her hand a quick squeeze, then turned around to disappear into the crowd.
