Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"So, you're just having a difficult life, aren't you?" Ned tried. "Why isn't this a vacation? You are at a dance."

"Please tell me not literally," Ned said after a moment.

"...let's hope it's not literally," Ned said, grimacing. "Someone's head exploding doesn't give me Valentine's Day vibes."

"I think I'd throw up," Ned said bluntly. "Because...ew."

Ben shrugged. "There's a first time for everything."

He'd seen his first exploding head a while ago.

"I think I've seen enough to be able to say I'd like to bypass an exploding head," Ned said, shuddering. "I don't want a first time."

Ben gave him a flat look. "Somehow I doubt you've seen all that much."

"Somehow I don't think you know what I've seen," Ned said, glancing over at Ben and frowning. "Making assumptions about me doesn't sound like very thorough police work."

Ben's eyes, not that they had been terribly friendly to begin with, got sharper. "Spent a lot of time being in the police, have you?"

"No," Ned said after a moment and a hunching of his shoulders towards his ears. "But, you made an assumption about me with a basis of nothing more than this conversation. Why can't I do the same to you?"

"Because you're not as good at it," Ben told him, lifting his wee little chin.

"Which is an exceptionally good reason for assumptions, of course," Ned said, shaking his head. "I'd hate to know what other things you presume over the course of the day if you think you're that much better judge of character than everyone else."

"Jedi," Ben said simply. To him that was pretty much the same as answering "well, duh."

"I don't know what a Jedi is," Ned answered. "I still don't appreciate being judged by you."

"Then I pity your ignorance," Ben said. "Judging people is what I do. I'm very good at it."

"I've gone nineteen years without knowing what a Jedi and my life has been no greater or worse for it," Ned replied. "If you make judgments from superficial conversations, then I pity your relationships with people."

"I make judgments from direct observations and from what other people say about you," Ben said, eyes narrowing. "And I have to say that I don't get your appeal at all."

With that, he turned sharply on his heel and stalked away.
