Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

"You kiddin'? This decor is freakin' kickass, yo!"

Well, it was. The lack of masks made it difficult to pretend you were someone else if you were to, say, try to spike the punch, but Reno would find a way to work around that, if he could snag Romeo for the solemn task.

"You've got a funny idea of romantic," she giggled, leaning up to steal a kiss. "You think you've got a chance at getting lucky, tonight?"

Reno was going to smirk and lean in to that kiss, and he was going to make it a good one.

"It's tradition, zoto. You don't got laces, but I happen to have a shitload of buttons."

Rikku was going to lean up and breathe on his ear. "My dress doesn't have laces," she purred.

Dojima was very, very high on Rikku's list of favorite people right now.

And if Reno had been aware that Doji was responsible for the laces, she'd be up near the top of Reno's list of favorites, too.

"Keep talkin' like that, and we ain't gonna be here long enough to dance, yo."

Which really wasn't so bad, either.

"I didn't say anything," Rikku said innocently. "I mean. My dress? No laces. Shoes? Zip. That doesn't necessarily mean anything else would have laces."

It was a Mystery. For reals. Gosh, how would Reno crack such a difficult case?

"Guess we're gonna have to go spelunking for laces once we get back to your room, yo," Reno noted.

He was totally inviting himself over, yes.

"Maybe I gave Petey a lacy collar," Rikku said calmly. "You don't know. You'd be so disappointed checking under my dress for nothing there."

Except the garters. Those kinda had laces. Huh.

"If Petey's the one wearin' the lace," Reno said pointedly, "he won't be gettin' the pleasure of me takin' it offa him with my teeth, yo. Cat hair just gets up your nose, yeah?"

"I don't know," Rikku chirped. "I've never tried taking laces off a cat with my teeth. I guess maybe I'm old-fashioned."

"You're gonna have to get with the times," Reno laughed. "We'll start you small, an' you can work your way up. Mako first. He smells like skunk, but he sheds less, zoto."

"And if that gets dull," Rikku said, breathing onto his ear, "you can show me what else you can take off with your teeth. I bet we can think of loads of things."

Ooooooh. Heeeeeey.

"Wanna go think of 'em right now?"

Dances were stupid anyhow!

That earned him a very searing kiss, followed by a playful shove.

"No," she said. "I spent forever doing my hair, and we barely said hi to anybody, and you owe me at least one dance, buster."

Not that she was planning on staying very long. And once he got her out onto the dance floor, she had a feeling he could be pretty persuasive, anyway.

"I can do that," he decided, catching himself and grinning.

He hadn't weaselled Rude into helping him pick out a hot three-piece for the dance just so that they could skip out this early.

Early, yes. Just not this early.

"To the floor?"

"To the floor," Rikku agreed, following his lead. "... Dork."
