Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

"Jedi is diplomats?" she frowned. "I thought you was knights!"

"We're both," Ben said. "Sometimes we engage in...aggressive negotiations. With lightsabers."

"Ah," Firekeeper nodded, processing that. "I was not knowing those two could be going together," she admitted.

"It seems to be just something we do," Ben admitted. "Jedi fix broken governments. We're kind of like repairmen."

Firekeeper smiled at that. "Am not a Jedi, but I have helped do such too. Sort of," she told Ben.

"You have?" Ben asked interestedly.

[SP=WIN!]

Firekeeper nodded. "We free Torio- the Healed One of New Kelvin- from Lady Melina's control. She use magic to make him think he love her, and then try to use him to get more power for herself. Then, there was Liglim. One there wanted to bring back blood sacrifice. We stop this also," another thing about wolves? Prone to boasting sometimes.

Ben let out a low whistle. "That's really impressive," he said honestly. "My last few trips haven't been nearly that interesting."

That...was not so honest.

Firekeeper gave him a look that said she clearly didn't believe that. "I not believe you," she said frankly.

Ben smiled at her. "My last few trips haven't been nearly that productive," he amended. "The good guys aren't winning."

"What happen?" she asked curiously.

"It's a long story," Ben admitted. "It's a different war than the one Tahiri's fighting. We're not from the same time."

"I not mind long stories," Firekeeper replied. In other words, she was kind of nosy sometimes. "But if you not want to speak of it, that is okay too." She could also remember her manners on occasion.

"Do you know the term 'civil war?'" Ben asked after a moment.

Firekeeper nodded. "How Hawk Haven and Bright Bay was made separate kingdoms," she said, recalling the seemingly-endless lessons in human history she'd endured. "Though I think 'civil' a strange term, since what I seed of war is not so."

"I've always thought the same thing," Ben said. "This particular civil war split my family down the middle. My uncle is from the system that wanted to leave...and all of the Jedi--my parents, his children, his wife, me--work for the government they wanted to abandon." He pressed his lips together. "It hasn't gotten less complicated in the last year."

"Having to choose what is being right and wrong is hard enough," Firekeeper said with sympathy. "Having to choose between family is harder," she added. That was one particular lesson she'd had to experience several times over in the past couple years.

Ben nodded. "It's not something I mention to a lot of people," he said shyly.

"Am glad you is feeling you can trust me with it," Firekeeper said seriously.

Ben gave her a small smile. "I'm a pretty good judge of people," he said. "I trust you."

"Then there is something I should be trusting you with, too," Firekeeper said, coming to a decision. "Blysse is not being my true name. My wolf-given name is Firekeeper. Tahiri call me such. And you should too."

"I will," Ben said, looking touched.
