Valentine's Dance; Town Hall; Friday Evening [8 pm - 10 pm]

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

"Perhaps both?" It most certainly was, even if it didn't resemble any dancing Leto was used to.

"I suspect the proximity was in its favor," she sighed. "Formal dancing requires much more space between partners."

"It does. So perhaps it was created for people with little time for learning elaborate steps and with very small rooms for dancing." It was still cozy.

"Or people who wished to be close to one another without a chaperone's intervention," she mused. "Though one imagines that's what the dark corners are intended for."

"Especially since the chaperones have a good view of the dance floor," Leto noted. "Although I assure you my sister won't mind."

Alice glanced over towards Lady Ghanima, and then flushed. "I was her teaching assistant, last summer," she said. "I had not thought of how odd that might perhaps be. She is a quite excellent teacher, I must tell you, though I imagine you expected as much."

"Odd? And yes, I did expect her to be. Ghanima never does anything half-heartedly." He slipped his arms tighter around Alice.

"She might feel protective of you," Alice considered, "and feel the need to give me quite dark looks. For that matter, if you know Dean Winchester, he might wish to growl in your direction. He considers me family, I think."

And suddenly Leto tensed, imagining a Dean Winchester questioning him and enquiring about things reported by nosy squirrels. "Ghanima would not," he assured her.

"I'll speak to Dean," Alice said quickly, noticing the tension. "It had not occurred to me to do so, before now. He considers himself a protector, I think. Especially as I was not quite myself when I arrived here, but that falls under the category of things to discuss at another time."

The asylum, the history of madness, her family gone. That might prove a lengthy conversation.

"I am not a threat to you," he said, hoping there wasn't something he didn't know of that contradicted this.

"No, you aren't," she said calmly, easing back away from him only that she might meet his eyes. "I think Dean might feel that if I kiss boys, they might break my heart, and that a broken heart could be too much for me to bear. Neither is true."

"You don't seem to be one who breaks easily or who easily fall apart when broken," Leto said, meeting her eyes.

"I'm not," she said, and her eyes were determined. "But I did break, once, and quite thoroughly at that."

She could have said more, but she waited, here, hoping to gauge his reaction.

"But not because of kissing a boy, I assume," Leto said. He had almost stopped moving to the music.

"No kissing, no boys," she agreed quietly. "Only a nightmare, come to life. Pain, loss, and fire."

He had stopped dancing, and so she did, as well. "I seem to have ruined the moment."

"Those are the real dangers," Leto said, pulling her close again. "And why?"

Re: Dance Floor

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-02-14 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
She started swaying once more to the music. "Well, we stopped dancing," she noted. "This is hardly a topic for dances. It shall have to be placed in the pile, with our earlier confessions."

She hardly need specify that the two were intertwined, for her at least.

"Dancing can be resumed," he pointed out. "As can certain conversations, later."

"Very well," she murmured, nuzzling in close again. "All things in good time."
