The Park, Sunday Afternoon, The Grand Tea

Mina Harker wasn't particularly fond of children. However, given the alternatives, it seemed a great idea to put them through a bit of culture. Her equal partner in all of this was, of course, the most proper lady she knew of in town: Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Together, they organized the tables (with extra tiny chairs not just for the children, but if any of the young ones had brought along Mr. Bear to enjoy the event), the tea (of all sorts), and the assorted other bits (scones, crumpets, jam, little cucumber sandwiches and the like).

They also had some rather cheap (they were messy child types, so it made sense not to make them too extravagant) gloves for the little girls, so that they could enjoy the tea properly.

If anyone acted up too much, well, there was Mina Harker on the premises.

[ooc: Up early for Slowplay and wacky justice. Ms. Bennet's involvement with player permission. Hold up for OCD. Open for your tea needs!]

Perhaps this gathering would attract the wrong clientèle for his taste, but Leto did think the food looked quite tasty. Hopefully there would be some adults around too.

Ooh, pretty gloves! And food! (Which was also pretty, not that she cared about that kind of thing.)

K-Mart was sooooo glad she'd wandered to the park now!

Amber was hopping around, checking out the food. She still had peanut butter and jelly on her face and in her hair from last night, but that had nothing to do with today.

Liz had decided that she wanted to go outside and had found herself in the park. When she noticed the food she decided that she definitely wanted to stay.

Free of anyone telling him what to do or where to go, Ender was actually a little lost for anything to do. He'd been reading, yesterday. He hadn't been able to do that in peace in what felt like forever.

He still had his book on him in the park, and he picked a chair that was a little out of the way, so he could observe while he read.

The activity itself was a little too simple, and he quickly lost interest in the tea.

Angela could be a lady.

Or, at least, she was better at being a lady when she had less sugar in her system than she did for most of yesterday when she was practically bouncing everywhere.

She was, for the moment, just happily looking around at all the people. People!

Claire could totally be a lady, it was just boring. She stood near a tree at the edge of the action, picking flowers and weaving a daffodil crown.

Joan loved tea parties. And her stupid brothers never wanted to have any with her, so she was very excited and all dressed up.

Alex could be a lady, sometimes. If she tried really hard. She'd try today, because tea parties were fun!

Harper tried to dress up like a lady. She wore a dress with a really vivid print (http://www.fabricmartfabrics.com/controller/detail.php?product_id=809379) and a hat which was really an upside-down straw basket.

Yesterday, of course, Callie had decided that she was going to be a pirate, and a real pirate probably didn't have much of an interest in being proper and tea parties.

Instead, Pirate Princess Calliope was here to pillage!

Eventually.

Momoko wasn't just a lady, she was a pretty pink princess magical ranger fairy who just happened to be running through the park on her way to... oooh, food!

"A tea party!!"

Ooh, tea!

Turtle...actually didn't like tea, But she did like socializing and she did like playing and she especially like parks, so she was there, running around the park a little before settling in for the boring stuff.

There were a lot of people, but it wasn't as loud as the dorms. A tiny, muddy little boy hovered around the edges of the festivities and watched.

"Pour, pwease?" K-Mart asked, looking up at the nearest hostess adorably and holding up her cup.

Re: Enjoy the Tea

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I can do it!" she declared, scrambling up on her knees, on a chair. She poured her own cup of tea and only got a little bit on the table. Maybe more than a little bit.

She leaned down and forward and placed her mouth on the rim of the cup 'cause it was really full, and sipped.

"Yuck! That's yucky! I want somethin' else!" she demanded.

[identity profile] flashesforinfo.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There were cookies.

That lack of sugar high may not last long, since Angela was already cheerfully nibbling at one.

She didn't have tea yet. But she'd get to that. Maybe.

Re: Enjoy the Tea

[identity profile] swipedthatfoot.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Claire thought she could pour tea for herself.

The effort left a small puddle of tea on the table where her cup had been. Oops. She took a napkin to blot it up before anyone could see, then went about adding so much sugar to her cup that it wouldn't all dissolve.
