April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

"No fooling?" Tahiri scrunched her face up and grinned at him. "That's not in the spirit of the holiday, is it? But no fooling -- I love you, too."

"You're such a gentleman," Tahiri told him with a long-suffering sigh. "For a boy who just sprouted horns like a Devaronian, that is."

She was nice enough not to compare him to Elassar Targon, at least?

"I don't think they go very well with your hair at all," Tahiri informed him sadly. "They might, only yours seem to be growing in in a bright shade of neon green."

"In this room, how can you tell?" Ben replied, then grinned. "In that case, we'll match. Yours seems to be trying to match your dress."

"I'm one up on you, then," Tahiri returned spiritedly. "A shame I haven't learned how to whap you with this amazingly lightweight new tail of mine yet."

"Oh, really? Don't look now, Skywalker, but --" Tahiri pretended to peer around him and look concerned. "A stray nexu cub just imprinted on you. It'll follow you around forever now."

"No, but maybe I do," Tahiri suggested. Perfectly innocently, of course.

"I don't know why you think that'd have a thing to do with it," Tahiri replied with a laugh, tugging at his hand. "Honestly, Ben."

"As if you wouldn't save entire worlds three times over if you got the chance," Tahiri said gently, linking her fingers through his. "But that's another reason you're lovable."

"Speaking of other worlds, the trip to Karla's was uneventful," he said.

Tahiri blinked. "I can honestly say I'm a little surprised by that."

"So was I," he admitted, "but we were out in the middle of nowhere, far from Hobart's cronies."

The look on Tahiri's face suggested exactly what she thought of Hobart, and she knew she didn't have to go over that with Ben.

"Good," she said forcefully. "What were you doing out there, anyhow?"

"Karla was helping to heal the land," Ben said. "Her blood mixed with water will improve crops. Which was...weird."

"Physically linked to the land, and healing it through a sort of sacrifice," Tahiri mused. "That makes a strange amount of sense if I look at it a certain way."

Which was to say that it appealed to her Yuuzhan Vong side, but she was trying to phrase that delicately.

"I thought it might," Ben said quietly. "We visited several villages. Hopefully they'll all have good crops now and Hobart won't find out which witch did it."

"Several villages," Tahiri echoed. "She didn't go and wear herself out completely again, did she?"

She knew Karla; that was always a concern, but also a reason she respected Karla so much.
