April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

"I learned how to selectively hear things from you, Kate, darling," Nathan quipped. "You were the queen of it for a very long time. It's your influence rubbing off on me."

"Oh please, I'm sure that's a skill that goes way further back than that," Kate retorted. "As much as I would like to take credit, you've been hearing what you want to hear for as long as I have."

"Yeah, but I do it better than you," Nathan decided, smiling proudly. "You could learn from me, Kate. I could be like your master and you could be the students. That's not to be confused with the whole dominatrix/submissive thing. I'm not too into that."

"I also dislike you because you're delusional," Kate decided in turn, nodding. "It's unhealthy."

"What delusions?" Nathan asked, mock offended. "Kate, it is absolutely abdominal that you would slander me so harshly! Honestly, I thought we had a bond!"

"... Abdominal?" Well, that distracted her from the argument at hand, at least. "Did you mean abominable?"

"Hey, I've been drinking!" Nathan said ~~and the mun started laughing at her typo.~~ "You have to forgive me some things, come on. But yes, I meant abominable. Unless you're angling to see my abs because I'm sure that can be arranged even if I shouldn't flaunt my body where someone might jump me."

"I've seen your abs, they're not all that special," Kate informed him, wrinkling her nose. "I'll pass on that opportunity, thanks."

"How dare you!" Nathan said, gaping at her. "What's wrong with my abs? They're amazing! I'm not some veiny hulking roided out monster and that's a good thing!"

"Eh, I've seen better." Or she was just winding him up. "They're okay, but nothing to write home about."

"And who have you seen better on?" Nathan demanded, sticking a hand on his head. "I wanna know who these guys are so I can go kick their ass."

"Hannibal and Puck," Kate told him without missing a beat. "And I would love to see you try kicking their asses. Really. It would be hilarious."

"Cruel, Kate." Nathan sighed and wiped an imaginary tear or two away from his eyes. "You were supposed to day no one because that's what friends do. They lie to protect the delicate hearts of their friends."

"On the contrary, I'm giving your heart some credit," Kate retorted with a smirk. "I expect your heart to be tough enough to be able to take something like that. I have faith in my friends."

"And what if you're wrong?" Nathan wondered, pressing a hand to his heart. "What if my heart's weak and fragile and needs tender loving care from all persons?"

"Then you've basically been faking everything until this point," Kate decided. "And I would pity you."

"If I've been faking everything to this point, that makes me a master of disguise!" Nathan said, finding the silver lining in that accusation.

"A master of disguise with a weak and needy heart," Kate pointed out, intent on erasing that silver lining. "I've heard of better things."

"If you keep insulting me, I'm gonna go find some other pretty blonde chick to entertain," Nathan decided, making a show of looking around so he could find one.

"You will never find anyone as pretty and entertainable as me."

That barely even meant anything. She smirked at him over her drink, anyway.

Even Nathan didn't think that made any sense but he'd let her have it and just shake his head. See, he could be nice sometimes!

"What? Why are you shaking your head at me?" Like she didn't know. "Don't shake your head at me. That's rude."
