April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

She kissed his cheek in return. "Thank you," she said. "You look very colorful. How have you been?"

"A circus?" Raven said, giving him a skeptical look. "Perhaps if there were a kissing booth there. What else would you be doing in a circus?"

"Then how can you hide if you are normal?" Raven wanted to know. "Will you not stand out?"

"Well I'm not going to bloody juggle for the man," Mat complained. "I stay hidden in the wagons when we stop."

"Not exactly," Mat said. "It's a form of protection for my future wife." Who he'd kidnapped by having Merlin knock her out and wrap in a carpet. "There are soldiers after her and it's best to stay out of their sight. They'd never expect the future bloody empress to be in a traveling circus."

Going at two inches a day, at that.

"Your future wife?" Raven said. "You are engaged to be married? Congratulations! And she is an empress, so you will be an emperor?"

"Well, sort of," Mat hedged. "She still has to say yes? And I don't want to be bloody emperor. I have more sense than all of the nobles I've ever met put together."

Beat.

"Though Tuon's all right. And Arthur, when his head doesn't get too big for his hat."

"Will your friends from Fandom be invited to the wedding if she says yes, then?" Raven teased. "Or will you be too afraid of all the girls you've kissed making your bride-to-be jealous?"
