April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

"Side-effects?" Firekeeper gave Dinah a puzzled look. "Dances is too noisy for Blind Seer's liking. I say, there is much food to be had! But even this is not enough to bring him out," she shook her head sadly. He didn't know what he was missing, here!

"Things you don't expect. Like turning purple or having electric hair," Dinah said, popping a tiny appetizer in her mouth. "His loss, but we should put food in a napkin for him." She grinned, shaking her head. "How are you doing?"

"But why?" Firekeeper had to ask, unfamiliar as she was with April Fools. "I am well enough. Weather should start to turn warm, soon. And then hunting should be good."

"I'll like being out looking for criminals when it's not 30 degrees any more," Dinah had to agree, then grinned. "You don't have April Fools' back home, do you?"

"We do not have April back home," Firekeeper affirmed. "This time is... Deer Moon, I think." It wasn't always easy to remember the months, as elusive a concept as counting was for her, but she did remember the ones that happened around the turn of seasons. "What is April Fools?"

"It's like International Joke Day, or something. For pulling pranks and making people believe things that aren't true," Dinah said, pointing at her drink. "Like putting stuff in punch, or rigging up harmless traps? I don't know why, but it's the first of this month."

Dinah cracked up, then gave Firekeeper a half-hug, snickering. "I can't even say you're wrong, 'cause you're not. Just be careful of the food, is all."

And now she had to glance down at her hands, just to see if her skin had changed colors on her. "My hair is same?" she had to ask, since it was currently pinned up and she couldn't just grab a lock to check.

"It's the same. And very cute!" Dinah assured her. Dinah looked like, well. Like she'd been climbing the face of a semi-Greek monument with a bunch of other crazy people ten minutes before her portal left. As you do.

"Cute," Firekeeper snorted. "I know not what is 'cute'. I just know dresses is for dances, so, I wear dress, and have people in town do what is supposed to be done for hair." She came from a world that was culturally similar to medieval Earth in a lot of ways and was, technically speaking, a member of the noble class. She was used to having other people prepare her for events like these.

"Good," Dinah offered instead. "And getting someone in town to do your hair is smart." Dinah's looked windblown, but hey, it always did. She grinned. "You have to come visit me in New Gotham, you and Blind Seer!"
