April Fools' Dance, An Abandoned Warehouse, Friday Night

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

"Eh, just sort of... you know," Hurley said. "Kind of avoiding the whole 'Where have you been' conversation, I guess."

He reached to take one of the cups of punch, and gave her a little smile.

"We should have a newsletter or something to share those awkward updates so people don't have to worry about talking about them," said Hoshi, handing one of the cups over. "Careful, I wasn't able to tell if they spiked the punch before I got there."

Hurley shrugged. "I'm pretty sure I shouldn't let that stuff get in print, either. I mean... Yeah."

He shook his head. "Real big mess. And I'd be lying if it didn't kind of... haunt me a bit."

"Really? I hadn't noticed," said Hoshi with a smile. She was joking, of course. "It seems like it would be a life-changing experience. I'm sure I wouldn't be the same if I was cut off from my friends and family for a long time."

"Heh, yeah," Hurley said, raising his glass. "So, I guess... let me propose a toast. To new beginnings and whatever the road holds for us."

"It can only get better from here, right?" said Hoshi, beaming as she raised her glass.

Maybe she'd forgotten that it was a bad idea to provoke Fandom.

"Oh, come on. I'm the one who missed your birthday," said Hoshi. "Stuff happens, especially when you come from different timelines. We've lived in Fandom long enough to expect that."
